Best Sci-Fi Movies of 2019 (And The Worst)2019 is one of those movie years that sees cosmic superheroes, unstoppable syndicate assassins, and crime-solving pocket monsters with regularity, making it harder for science-fiction films to dazzle us with their subversions of the norm. That means they ll just have to be more creative in this day and age, and you ll find the ones up to task on our list of the best sci movies (and the worst) of 2019! ( The worst implying you ll also find the ones that aren t). The offerings this year include big-budget spectacles (Godzilla: King of the Monsters), mid-budget mindblowers (I Am Mother), a Michael J. Fox-featured time travel joint (See You Yesterday), and even something from genre wanderer Keanu Reeves (Replicas). As with our other genre lists (2019 s best in horror, comedy, and action),each sci-fi movie needed at least 20 reviews for inclusion. Distribution method was not a factor. It s the future, baby!Last updated 10/28: Terminator: Dark FateBest Movies of 2019 | Best Horror Movies of 2019Best Comedies of 2019 | Best Sci-Fi Movies of 2019Best Action Movies of 2019

OK —Winnick: But I will tell you this: It was definitely my highlight of working on it. I asked Michael Hirst, I want three things out of my directorial debut: Give me a big event. Give me something epic and amazing. You will see that is actually in the trailers right now. So there is a big event. I wanted character-driven material that I can push the actors, my fellow costars, to new levels that the audience hasn t seen them do before. And I m happy to say that I definitely put Alexander Ludwig through the ringer. And even Marco and Jordan — Hvitserk and Ubbe. The third thing is just coming from a martial art background and doing my own stunts and being passionate about the fight choreography, I asked him for a big fight, a big epic battle, and you will see that as well.(Photo by Jonathan Hession and History)Now that you re facing the the tail end of your series, what will you miss most about your time on the show?Winnick: I don t miss getting into the costume hair and makeup, because that was always a process. We tried to get it down at the end. That wig was a challenge because we were shooting in high definition and you only get X amount of space to glue it on. Or even the prosthetics with the latex around the eyes — I have very sensitive skin, so the process was definitely a process. What I won t miss: The coffee in Ireland s not the best. I ll tell you that. They made instant coffee. Our craft table was pretty always kind of scarce, but it kept us lean. But yeah, the instant coffee I m not a huge fan of.What s coming up next for you? Winnick: I ve had a really busy year. Really excited to say that I ve done three projects, three different independent movies. There s an incredible script called Flag Day, written by Jez Butterworth (who just won the Tony for Ferryman), and Sean Penn directed and starred in. I play his wife, and our daughter is played by his real daughter, Dylan Penn. We ve got Regina King in this, you ve got Miles Teller, we have Josh Brolin. It was really an amazing experience on set to work with Sean, and especially becoming now a director myself — I just did a show on Netflix; I directed, Wu Assassins — but it s nice just to see him [work]. He s so accomplished and brilliant as a director and knows what it takes to get the performance out of you, but also aesthetically knows what is pleasing and what he wants. I wanted to really see him work and spend time with him on set and create something that hopefully people will realize how special it is, because I have a place in my heart for that as well. And to go through like three decades, we went through 60s, 70s, and 80s, and to have that physical change of — there s prosthetics, there s hair changes — It was a very interesting movie, and I m really passionate about that one. Great experience.I did a movie with Liam Neeson I just finished called Minuteman. I ve been a fan of his since back in the day, obviously, Taken and Schindler s List. He s also from Ireland. I played his daughter. That s coming out. And did a movie this summer also with Tommy Lee Jones and Aaron Eckhart, more of a conspiracy theory, written and directed by a female director, April Mullen, so it s nice to be able to support a female storyteller.(Photo by Jonathan Hession and History)Speaking of women in power, Lagertha has been such a huge influence on women because she s such a strong character. She s one of the most powerful women on television. How do you feel about portraying a character like that? What are some of the responses you ve gotten about being her from women?Winnick: I am still blown away when I meet fans that are diehard fans, and such loyal fans of Lagertha, just because it s — not just women and girls, it s men too that really look up to her, respect her, like her. So it s nice that it s reached both genders. But more importantly, it s also around the world. I ve been lucky enough to travel for the last few years. I was in India, I was in Brazil, I ve been in Argentina, Canada, and all over Europe, really, and all around in different cultures people from all around the world, not only recognize her and me, I guess, but they also really feel the same way, and then really feel that there s a part of them in Lagertha, or they look up to her, and that s been remarkable to see.Even in India, you can go to different villages and people, they live on their Netflix. And Philippines, people don t even have running water, but they all have cell phones and they watch Vikings on their cellphones. It was just amazing just to see how it can inspire people everywhere. It s a little strange when you see somebody, when they have your face tattooed on their bodies. That s a little surreal because I feel kind of uncomfortable with it just because it s like, Hey, you re stuck with me for life. No, but on one hand you can t ask for a bigger compliment than to have such loyal fans.On the flip side it s also made it hard to find projects that I m also as inspired, and work with writers that can write such a complex, strong, yet vulnerable character. It s been a challenge. I ve read a lot of scripts that I m not wanting to sign on to because I feel that the characters aren t — or the woman character is underwritten or their voice isn t as multi-dimensional as I would want it to be. And I think we still have a long way to go, and hopefully we encourage more female writers, female directors, and female producers to be able to tell those stories. Have the men do the same as well.(Photo by Bernard Walsh and History)Are you saying that Michael Hirst has ruined you for life?Winnick: I m just going to have be in a Michael Hirst movie for the rest of my life. How about that? Not really. Yeah. He set the bar really high, and I wouldn t want it any other way. Especially in TV when you re signing up for multiple months, if not years, of your life, you want to make sure there s a character you can really sink your teeth into and be inspired.I learned a lot from Lagertha. I really, truly did. And the truth of the matter is, if I was 100-percent honest with you, I ve yet to really say goodbye. I actually have a hard time watching it. I haven t been able to watch the episodes in this season. I prepared, obviously, as a director to watch certain ones, but as a whole, it s just so close to my heart still. And now that everybody knows that this season s finished, I think maybe next year I ll finally get a chance to sit down and binge-watch all of them, but it s still too fresh for me. It feels like you re saying goodbye to a big part of yourself and life. It s hard to say. You go through a mourning process a little bit because, as you know, the show ended. The fans are there mourning with you, but, you know, Valhalla. Winnick: To end on an up note, this season s been amazing. It s going to be surprising. It s definitely going to be a bunch of shockers, and the fans will not be disappointed. They re going to be ecstatic when they see this season.Vikings returns for its final season on Wednesday, December 4 at 9/8C on History.

华体会登陆 Friday s portion of the Television Critics Association press day got political, thanks to projects like a Hillary Clinton documentary coming to Hulu and National Geographic s powerful film The Cave. Other news out of the day included the iffy future of Hulu projects Veronica Mars and Castle Rock, as well as Zoë Kravitz dishing on her new Hulu show High Fidelity.TOP STORYHIGH FIDELITY GENDER-FLIPS 2000 MOVIE WITH STAR ZOË KRAVITZHulu s High Fidelity hits just in time for Valentine s Day, serving up a gender-flipped rom-com re-do of the 2000 film starring John Cusack and Lisa Bonet, who happens to be the mother of series star Kravitz.Kravitz is having an excellent year so far, between celebrating a Golden Globe nomination for season 2 of Big Little Lies, her recently announced role as DC Universe s new Catwoman in Matt Reeves’ 2021 film The Batman, and this promising Hulu series from executive producers Sarah Kucserka, Veronica West, Scott Rosenberg, and Kravitz herself. The show, which tackles lead character Rob s love life and a theme of gentrification, relocates from England (in Nick Hornby’s book) and Chicago (in the movie) to the Crown Heights neighborhood in Brooklyn. We watch a lot of romantic comedies with female leads, West told the TCA gathering, and the problem always seems to be you can t find the right man, or you re desperate to get married, or you re self-destructive in some way. And like, when a man gets to be the lead, the problems are internal and it s just like — it was interesting for us to put that in a woman s point of view and let her issues with romance really just be about learning how to figure out herself and not finding Mr. Right. You know, there s lots of Mr. Rights in the show, which is part of what makes it so much fun. (Photo by Amy Sussman/Getty Images)For Kravitz s part, the actress pulled some strings as executive producer to make the comedy happen. We had Colleen Atwood do the costumes, who is a legend. I had worked with her on Fantastic Beasts, and we were having a really hard time finding someone to do the costumes and that was a really important element to the story and the show to me. And I had called Colleen asking her if she knew someone that would do it because I knew she wouldn’t do it because she’s — she did f ing Silence of the Lambs. Like, you know, it’s not happening. And I called her and said, Do you know someone? and that we need someone and it was starting really soon. And she said, I love High Fidelity. I love you. I’ll do it. And we were all in shock  I called [executive producer Scott Rosenberg], and I said, I think I found someone that you’ll be happy with — because he wasn’t happy with anybody — and he said, Who? And I said, Colleen Atwood. She wants to do it. And it got really quiet. And then he went, Why?' Kravitz said she and Atwood found costumes for her character at vintage stores. I stole a lot of s . I have a lot of the clothes from High Fidelity,” she confessed. I’m really into the Hawaiian shirts. We did a lot of really cool Hawaiian shirts, and Colleen designed this really great leather jacket that was kind of an homage to the jacket that Cusack wears in the film. We did a Hawaiian shirt with a leather jacket with a kind of pleated school skirt, and that was really cool. Music posed a different kind of challenge for the rom-com TV reboot. We spent a lot of money on music, Kravitz said. Every song that we really wanted, we got. And every song we couldn’t get that was replaced, the song that it was replaced with ended up being the perfect song. We were really lucky. And we had amazing support from ABC and Hulu in terms of everyone knew how important the music — music is a character on the show. So she needs like a trailer and a makeup office – A reporter couldn t help noticing that Kravitz s short pixie cut was a much different look than the long braids her character wears in the series. I cut my hair for Batman, so it’s short now, Kravitz explained, insisting that her hair in the series was definitely not a wig.Earlier in the week, Kravitz appeared on Ellen DeGeneres show, where she talked about training for her Batman role and meeting with a famous former Catwoman while sitting with the Big Little Lies talent at the Golden Globes earlier this month. I was sitting at the Globes with David Kelley — because he writes our show — and [his wife] Michelle Pfeiffer. And I was bowing to the queen. I m nervous to be in her presence now, she told DeGeneres, who asked her about costume fittings. We ve had many. It s going really well. It s very exciting. And I ve been training a ton, too, which has been great and hard I come home just limping every day. It s actually kind of pathetic. THE FATHER OF STAR WARS MEETS THE CHILDThe Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau shared a photo of Star Wars creator George Lucas holding series phenomenon The Child, and the internet shed tears of Baby Yoda joy pic.twitter.com/y121exIBtZ Jon Favreau (@Jon_Favreau) January 17, 2020HULU AND VERONICA MARS USED TO BE FRIENDS?(Photo by Warner Bros. Television. Courtesy: Everett Collection)Hulu s summer release of a fourth season of Veronica Mars five years after the Kristen Bell drama got a film version and even longer after the series left The CW caused a strong fan reaction — both because of a shocking ending and the decision to drop the episodes several days before its intended release date, thus screwing up rewatch plans for fans were binging old episodes on Hulu. Nevertheless, there was almost immediate talk as to whether there would be another season.Hulu senior v.p. of scripted originals Craig Erwich had a non-answer to this question when asked during his TCA executive session. I think for fans of the show, who have been lifelong fans, the opportunity to check back in with Veronica Mars and see where she is in her life was really exciting [and] it generated a lot of social conversation, he said. You know, what’s interesting is that collection, that kind of journey of Veronica Mars in terms of the television episodes and in terms of her life as a character, exists on Hulu now and will exist for a long time. So there’s still a lot of Veronica Mars for people to check out. We’re encouraging people to continue to watch it. People are continuing to discover it and and right now, we think that’s a really satisfying, narrative experience for them. CASTLE ROCK ALSO IN QUESTIONErwich was similarly vague about the future of Castle Rock, Hulu s original series based on characters and themes in author Stephen King’s work. We have not made any further decisions on Castle Rock. Again, that show recently launched. People are still continuing to discover it, he said, adding that I thought that Lizzy Caplan [who joined the show in season 2] was revelatory in her portrayal of Annie Wilkes. It was a whole new take on that character, and I thought very brave of her given what Kathy Bates had done [in the movie Misery]. You know, Lizzy was really able to find her own way into that. HULU PROMISES PATTON OSWALT’S M.O.D.O.K. PUTS HILARIOUS SPIN ON MARVEL SUPERVILLAIN(Photo by Marvel.com)Click image to see full comic coverIn more positive news, Erwich said that he s really excited after having seen quite a few episodes of animated series Marvel s M.O.D.O.K., which stands for Mobile Organism Designed Only for Killing. The character is described by Marvel as a massive-headed being possessing superhuman intelligence and extraordinary psionic powers. He s an egomaniacal supervillain trying to retain control over both his evil organization and his demanding family.Erwich added that star, executive producer, and co-writer Patton Oswalt is a lifelong Marvel fan and was obsessed with the character of M.O.D.O.K., so for him to finally get his hands on that character and for he and [co-writer and fellow executive producer] Jordan Blum to do what they’ve always wanted to do with it, has been great to see. They are taking a whole new perspective, and a very funny one, on what it means to be a comic book villain, which is really special. At last winter s press tour, Hulu announced that M.O.D.O.K. would be part of an animated lineup that also includes Marvel’s Hit-Monkey, Marvel’s Tigra Dazzler Show, and Marvel’s Howard The Duck. The four originals will culminate in a special, Marvel’s The Offenders.Erwich also said he s seen the first four hours of upcoming Marvel series Helstrom and, I’m really excited about it. It is a definitely a different corner of the Marvel universe in terms of its horror. HILLARY CLINTON S ADVICE FOR VIEWERS OF HER DOCUMENTARY(Photo by Erik Voake/Getty Images for Hulu)Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was also at Hulu s TCA press day, joining filmmaker Nanette Burstein to promote their four-part documentary, Hillary. The former presidential hopeful was unflinching when asked what she hopes voters will take away from her documentary when it premieres March 6 — which, she noted, was after Super Tuesday and may mean we ll have a clearer vision of who will be the Democratic nominee for president in November. I think the most important message is, we are — and I say we, because that’s the side that I’m on  I am on the side of an inclusive, generous, open-hearted country that faces up to the future, tries to bring people together to make difficult choices, of which we have many facing us, and that we’re in a real struggle with a form of politics that is incredibly negative, exclusive, mean-spirited. It’s going to be up to every voter, not only people who vote in Democratic primaries, to recognize this is no ordinary time, she said. This is an election that will have such profound impact. So take your vote seriously, and for the Democratic voters, try to vote for the person you think is most likely to win because at the end of the day, that is what will matter. And not just the popular vote, but the Electoral College, as we’ve learned. STEVE MARTIN, MARTIN SHORT MAKING NEW HULU COMEDY AND MORE DEVELOPMENT NEWS(Photo by Andrew Lipovsky/NBCU Photo Bank/NBCUniversal via Getty Images via Getty Images)An untitled comedy starring Steve Martin and Martin Short. has gotten a straight-to-series order from Hulu. New series The Great and Solar Opposites will premiere May 15 and May 8 respectively.Genius: Aretha, starring 2020 Oscar nominee Cynthia Erivo (Harriet), will launch on National Geographic as a four-night event series beginning Memorial Day, Monday, May 25. It is the third season of the networks anthology series. The network also announced the March 9 premiere date for COSMOS: Possible Worlds, hosted by astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson.New Freeform show Motherland: Fort Salem starts March 18 while Siren starts Season 3 on April 2.THE CAVE DIRECTOR S ABSENCE A HARSH REMINDER OF DOC S IMPORTANCE(Photo by Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic)National Geographic hosted a panel for The Cave, a powerful Syrian-Danish documentary film that focuses on Amani Ballour, a female doctor working out of a makeshift hospital in an actual cave during the Syrian Civil War. The film airs on the network on January 25, and director Feras Fayyad was scheduled to attend, but was unable to, according to a statement provided by the film s producer Sigrid Dyekjær. We were hoping that Feras Fayyad could be here with us today,  Dyekjær wrote. As has been widely reported, in December Feras was denied an extended U.S. visa by the U.S. Embassy in Copenhagen and has missed several industry events, including the IDA Awards and Cinema Eye Awards. While he has waited to meet with the embassy, Fayyad found out that his aunt’s house was bombed and his parents’ and childhood home was in the line of fire in Syria.  The director traveled to Turkey to be near his family, but was arrested by immigration police in Copenhagen when he attempted to return, Dyekjær wrote. Feras is a filmmaker, but first and foremost he’s a Syrian. The Cave is a very personal film. It is dedicated to his seven sisters. To his daughter. To the unnamed women he witnessed being jailed and tortured in Syrian prisons because they’re women,  Dyekjær wrote. His voice is important and it deserves to be heard, now more than ever. After all, we are talking about a brilliant filmmaker who is now a two-time Academy Award nominee — and my dear friend. DEALS: JULIA LOUIS-DREYFUS AND APPLE(Photo by Imeh Akpanudosen/Getty Images; Justin M. Lubin/HBO)Multi-Emmy winner Julia Louis-Dreyfus has signed a multi-year overall deal with Apple where she will develop new projects exclusively for Apple TV+ — both an executive producer and star.“I am thrilled about this new partnership with my friends at Apple,” Louis-Dreyfus said in a statement. Also, many thanks and kudos to my representatives for structuring the deal in such a way that I am paid in AirPods.”Hulu has also signed a multi-year streaming deal with DreamWorks Animation. Hulu announced the first three premieres to be Hulu Originals in 2020: Madagascar: A Little Wild based on the film franchise, TrollsTopia from the Trolls universe, and The Mighty Ones, featuring a twig, a pebble, a leaf, and a strawberry that live in an unkempt backyard where the humans are gods.Like this? n co-writer Dan O’Bannon was engaged to help with special effects and eventual Alien concept artist H.R. Giger designed the look of the Harkonnen homeworld, Giedi Prime. Pink Floyd was also set to score the film, which would take many liberties with Herbert’s story. To hear Jodorowsky tell it, the film would have expanded consciousness itself, but when he could not secure the needed funds to complete it, he was forced to abandon it; elements of his story ultimately ended up in his Incal and Metabarons comic books. The next director to attempt folding space was Ridley Scott in 1979. Intended to be his follow-up to Alien – a film that comes up a lot in the history of Dune – he left the project following the sudden death of his older brother Frank, realizing it would take more of him than he was willing to give. He would end up transferring his energies to Blade Runner a few years later.(Photo by ©Universal/courtesy Everett Collection)But as producer Dino De Laurentiis was loathed to let the money spent on developing Dune go to waste, he hired up-and-coming director David Lynch to remount the film. The resulting production, released by Universal in 1984, is staggering, weird, and often compelling – even if Dune fans questions certain liberties taken by Lynch to condense some of its plot, reshuffle some of its characters, and recast Paul in the messiah role he is expressly against in the novel. Nevertheless, we’re fond of the film, which featured early appearances by Kyle MacLachlan as Paul, Patrick Stewart as his loyal instructor Gurney Halleck, and even Alicia Witt (age 8 at the time) as Paul’s preternaturally gifted and deadly sister Alia. The film was not a hit, though it would find a following by airing on television, where Syfy would later adapt Dune and Children of Dune into two three-hour miniseries in the early 2000s. But any further Dune films would be relegated to a distant possibility for decades. Paramount Pictures picked up the rights in 2008, with directors Peter Berg and Pierre Morel attached at various points, but Paramount walked away from it in 2011. Legendary Entertainment picked up the rights in 2016 and Villeneuve was in talks to direct by the end of that year. The history of Dune on film should give you some idea of just how anticipated this adaptation is for fans of the novel, its sequels, and the resulting franchise. The People of Dune(Photo by Chiabella James/©Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.)Villeneuve inspired confidence early on with a succession of incredible casting announcements. Starting with House Atreides, Oscar Issac will play Duke Leto while Rebecca Ferguson plays his concubine, Lady Jessica, a character who is much more than her title in fact, during a Twitter chat prior to the first trailer s debut, Ferguson mentioned Jessica s choices create a fracture with far-reaching consequences. Their son, Paul, will be played by Timothee Chalamet. Josh Brolin will play Gurney Halleck and Stephen McKinley Henderson takes the role of Thufir Hawat. Jason Momoa will also appear as Duncan Idaho, another of Paul’s teachers whose seemingly insignificant presence here will turn into something quite epic should Dune spawn a successful film series.Though assigned to House Atreides, Dr. Wellington Yueh (Chen Chang) is a physician of the Suk School conditioned to make him safe and incorruptible while attending to the health of nobleborns. His loyalty is, theoretically, to the principles of medicine.Over on Giedi Prime, Stellan Skarsgard is a Baron Harkonnen for the 21st Century, and Dave Bautista plays his sadistic nephew, Glossu Rabban (A.K.A. The Beast). A second nephew, Feyd-Rautha, will seemingly make his debut in a later Dune film as the trailer only alludes to the Baron and the Beast. The Baron also has his own Mentat, Piter De Vries, played by David Dastmalchian.(Photo by Chiabella James/©Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.)Once on Arrakis, Paul and Leto will meet members of its (seemingly) indigenous population, the Fremen, which includes Javier Bardem as Stilgar and Zendaya as Chani. There are other Fremen who will matter to the story, like the Shadout Mapes and the Reverend Mother Ramallo, but it is currently unknown who might be playing them. Babs Olusanmokun, meanwhile, will play the Fremen fighter Jamis – a character with key ties to Paul – and Gloria Obianyo will play his wife, Harah. The Atreides will also meet Dr. Liet Kynes (Sharon Duncan-Brewster), the imperial ecologist and judge of the change in regards to the noble house s control of Arrakis. She also, presumably, carries the same important secrets her book counterpart held, though portraying Dr. Kynes as female is a departure from the novel and the various attempts at adapting it on film. During the recent Twitter chat, Duncan-Brewster noted Kynes s gender is less important than the character s role in the story; Kynes connects the Atriedes, the Harkonnens, the Imperium, and the Fremen.Other parts include Shaddam IV, his daughter Irulan, Reverend Mother Mohiam (Charlotte Rampling) and – if time permits – Count Hasimir Fenrig and his wife Lady Margot, both of whom were deleted entirely from David Lynch’s Dune. And while it makes total sense to cut them (and a few other people) for a two-hour-and-thirty-five minute film, we presume Villeneuve will have the time for almost everyone mentioned by Herbert in Dune, because Two Parts(Photo by Chiabella James/©Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.)Unlike every other attempt to adapt Dune, Villeneuve’s production is actually two films. Considering the way the novel is structured, there is a natural place for the film to end, complete with a rousing action scene, should Villeneuve be so inclined. Judging from the trailer, Dune fans will know exactly where the movie pauses and why. And to offer one more clue, it is no accident that Jamis and Harah appear in part one.Granted, part of what makes Dune so tough to adapt is its tendency to avoid certain storytelling tropes. Much of the book is set in quiet rooms where people discuss action occurring between chapters while drinking Spice Coffee and trying to ascertain what the other person is hiding by analyzing minute changes in facial expressions. Big battles happen, to be sure, but Herbert was more interested in what they meant for his world than focusing on the action itself. Of course, Villeneuve has proven with films like Sicario and Blade Runner 2049 that he can make compelling cinema out of two people talking or trying to kill each other. That Dune offers him scenes in which both are happening simultaneously – and sometimes surreptitiously – may be part of the appeal for him.Other members of the crew include co-writers Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts, director of photography Greig Fraser, production designer Patrice Vermette, editor Joe Walker, and producers Mary Parent, Cale Boyter, Joe Caracciolo, and Villeneuve. Composing the film’s score will be Hans Zimmer, who is said to have a special love of the original Dune novel. As Villenueve noted during the Twitter chat, much of the film was shot in the deserts of Jordan as he needed the real thing to make Dune work. They didn t shoot Jaws in a swimming pool, he said. Chalamet mentioned he shot two or three scenes against a green screen while the rest took place on practical sets, and Isaac, ever ready to poke fun at Star Wars, said working on a life-sized Millennium Falcon paled in comparison to the enormity of Dune s production. Creating that sense of reality is important, as Dune s far-flung future can easily look cheap if accomplished via digital sets. The Golden Path(Photo by Chiabella James/©Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc.)In an era of long-term film franchises, getting Dune to work on screen would give Warner Bros. access to five additional novels written by Herbert and a raft of spin-off material written by his son Brian and sci-fi author Kevin J. Anderson. Indeed, Herbert’s longer Dune cycle spans thousands of years and eventually shifts its focus from Paul to his son Leto II and eventually to… Well, let’s just say someone we mentioned in the cast list above could find themselves appearing in Dune films for decades. As it happens, Legendary is already convinced Dune will work this time and are developing a spinoff television show, Dune: The Sisterhood, for HBO Max. Spaihts wrote the pilot with Dana Calvo stepping in as showrunner. Villeneuve is expected to direct the first episode and serve as an executive producer alongside Spaihts, Brian Herbert, Byron Merrill, and Kim Herbert. Centering on the Bene Gesserit sisterhood, it will find more ways to illustrate the political intrigues of Dune’s Imperium and, potentially, their dealings with Paul after the events of Dune.Of course, those who have read Children of Dune or God Emperor of Dune may wonder how Legendary and Warner Bros. can pave a golden path of franchise wealth from the Golden Path that Leto II sets for humanity in the Dune sequels. The philosophical elements of Herbert’s world amp up even as more traditional dramatic narratives recede. And the conclusion of the story realized by Brian Herbert and Anderson takes an unexpected and almost pulpy direction; it’s not exactly Marvel, Lord of the Rings, or Star Wars by any stretch of the imagination. Then again, it wouldn’t be Dune if it didn t prove difficult for Hollywood to crack.Dune is currently set for release on December 18, 2020. It is unclear when the second part will materialize.Thumbnail image by Warner Bros. Pictures and Legendary Pictures 直到现在,即使是最有技术含量的主播,像是端游中很常见的EQ闪、或者马氏三角杀,也还没有被手游玩家开发出来。可见,LOL手游的细腻操作难度系数有多大。
