ROR体育官方下载采用百度引擎7(Baidu 4)Going forward it seems that every time a select potential blockbuster is on the horizon, we will all be looking at it less as just another pandemic record-breaker, but a sign that the doors to normalcy are opening wider. We did it back in March with Godzilla vs. Kong, and saw further hope in the opening and continuing numbers of A Quiet Place Part II. Now it is The Fast Saga’s turn to step up onto the scale and see how it should be measured.King of the Crop: F9 Fuels the Biggest Box Office Weekend Since February 2020The latest film in the saga (the ninth that is actually the tenth), F9, grabbed the record this weekend for films opening during the pandemic with million from Friday to Sunday. We’ll see if that is a rounded-up estimate. Whether it is or not, it is the best number 1 haul at the box office since The Rise of Skywalker’s second weekend (.3 million on the weekend of December 27-29, 2019) and the overall box office had the strongest three-day weekend since President’s Day weekend last February. This is no doubt good news as this is a film – even with pandemic asterisks – that should have opened to over million. Anything less than that – even above A Quiet Place Part II’s three-day holiday weekend haul of .5 million – would have been considered a hollow victory. But it got over that hump with a .1 million gross in Thursday night previews and million on Friday. Amongst past films that grossed between .5 million and .5 million on Thursday previews, the lowest full weekend earner was Jordan Peele’s Us with million. (Fast Furious 6 is among that small group and opened to .3 million after .5 million in previews.)There is no question that The Fast Saga is one of the biggest franchises of all-time: Over billion and counting with more than half of that attributed to the last three films (not even counting Hobbs Shaw). Furious 7 is the ninth highest-grossing film worldwide of all-time and The Fate of the Furious is 19th. F9 has made over 4 million worldwide so far. However, domestically, the grease is starting to come off the wheels a bit for the franchise. For all its international success, Fate grossed 7 million less than the seventh movie, and then Hobbs Shaw made million less than that; that spin-off finished its run just shy of 4 million and was considered somewhat of a disappointment at home. Bringing in those pesky pandemic asterisks again, we still have not seen a film hit 0 million in the pandemic period. The lowest-grossing film to open between million and million is X-Men: Apocalypse, with 5 million total. However, F9 is not going to be judged against the poor word-of-mouth of that film, nor against the Vin Diesel-less Hobbs Shaw. We are back to Diesel solo here with no Dwayne Johnson to draw in fans of his Hobbs character. So we may be back to looking at the fourth entry, Fast Furious, as the first hurdle F9 wants to clear. a film that also just happened to finish with…5 million. Start your engines.

The first trailer for It: Chapter Two dropped on Thursday morning and well, thanks yet again for the nightmares, Pennywise, Warner Bros., Andy Muschietti and Co. Really, thanks a bunch. The bulk of the first trailer is made up of a 2 minute and 15 second scene featuring Jessica Chastain s adult Beverly coming back to Derry to visit her childhood home and meeting its current occupant – the schvitzing Mrs Kersh who, of course, is not quite as she seems. After some exchanges of pleasantries ( No one who dies here ever really dies ), we start to see that something is amiss. As in moves-around-in-the-background-like-a-dancing-clown amiss.(Photo by @ Warner Bros. Pictures)Turns out Kersh is Pennywise s daughter or so she says. The rest of the trailer features a series of quick cuts that reveal the Losers Club is back together, Pennywise is back up to his old tricks (the red balloon budget has increased sizably), romance is in the air, and we will definitely get to see the original film s younger cast in multiple flashbacks. The flavor of the original, and of Stephen King s 1986 novel, all looks in place. There are hints this could be an origin story for Pennywise – there s Kersh, saying she s his daughter (though King fans will know Kersh is a form of IT); images of an un-made-up Pennywise with his traveling circus; and, a harrowing little shot of the clown seemingly tearing off his makeup.(Photo by @ Warner Bros. Pictures)The first It trailer back in March of 2017 was an event, and broke the record for most-watched trailer online in a day with 197 million views across the world. That figure smashed the previous record held by The Fate of the Furious (but has since itself been beaten by The Lion King, Infinity War, and two trailers for Endgame). The 2017 trailer s set of creepy images – red balloons floating through libraries, clowns appearing suddenly in drains – and that terrifying tagline ( You ll float too! ) got horror fans hyped for the movie, which would go on to become the highest-grossing horror movie ever, making more than 0 million worldwide. Will the first trailer for It: Chapter Two have the same impact? The goosebumps on our necks point to yes. But what did you think of the first trailer? Let us know in the comments. In the meantime, check out our picks for the five freakiest moments from the trailer. I was always daddy s little girl. (Photo by @ Warner Bros. Pictures)Holy hell. The extended sequence of Beverly in her childhood home ends with a bang, with Mrs. Kersh running jaggedly out of the dark towards her prey. The two minutes are a study in slow-building suspense – if this is the direction director Andy Muschietti is taking us in, we re definitely here for it.Pennywise Goes Full Carl from Up(Photo by @ Warner Bros. Pictures)Seems that Richie (Bill Hader) has an encounter with our dancing clown at a carnival, and Pennywise has taken that famous sequel directive bigger is better to heart, absolutely piling on the balloons. So he can fly now. Great.A Carrie Homage?(Photo by @ Warner Bros. Pictures)

The stylish, gritty descent into the criminal underworld rocked both sides of the Atlantic, which then gave Ritchie the opportunity to give his style an even slicker, international sheen with Snatch. So synonymous is Ritchie with this style and subject matter that no matter where his career takes him, whenever he returns to this topic it s always celebrated as a back-to-basics comeback. RocknRolla, for example, helped sweep away the sour tastes of Swept Away and Revolver. And now The Gentlemen and Wrath of Man have arrived as counterpoint to the blockbuster bombast of Aladdin and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword. (Though certainly Sherlock Holmes and The Man From U.N.C.L.E. found a happy, kinetic medium between these two extremes.)Which movies are his Freshest? This October, Tom Hardy returns to the big screen as Eddie Brock in Venom: Let There Be Carnage, a sequel to the smash hit film in which we first met the dogged journalist and his foul-mouthed (and very hungry) symbiote. The new film is directed by Andy Serkis and co-stars Woody Harrelson as Carnage, the fan-favorite villain teased at the end of the original film.Ahead of the movie’s release, Rotten Tomatoes correspondent Erik Davis spoke with Serkis, Hardy, Harrelson, and Naomie Harris (who plays another villain, Shriek) about what’s in store for audiences in the “lean and mean” sequel, the developing bromance between Brock and Venom, and what finally drew Harrelson to the Marvel family.Plus, Hardy – as star and producer – reveals he’s “100%” in on crossover movies and the multi-verse… Hear that, Mr. Holland?Venom: Let There Be Carnage is in theaters from Friday October 1, 2021.On an Apple device? Swedish teenager Greta Thunberg took the world by storm with her work to combat the global climate change crisis and in doing so became one of the most recognizable activists on the planet. Chronicling her journey across the globe fighting for action, sitting down with world leaders, and making media appearances, I Am Greta gives an intimate look at the young woman behind the movement. Kelsey Adams of Georgia Straight writes, Director Nathan Grossman captures the humanity of her larger-than-life tale with an unnervingly close look into her interior life. For a star under 40, Anna Paquin is exceedingly accomplished: She won a Best Actress in a Supporting Role Oscar at 11 years old for her role in The Piano; starred in one of HBO s biggest hit series, True Blood; and played teen superhero Rogue in four films of the blockbuster X-Men franchise. On her latest series, Pop s Flack, Paquin is responsible for saving celebrity reputations from turmoil, sometimes recovering their stardom from boredom or plateaued intrigue. She plays Robyn, a take-no-s publicist for the biggest crisis-management — sorry, challenge-management — company (aka public relations firm) in England. The lurid scandals and frenzied social media fallout Robyn deals with on Flack feel undeniably timely, but Paquin, who also executive produces the series, promises that Robyn is absolutely not based on her Hollywood experiences with publicists or public relations reps. Creator Oliver Lansley told reporters at the show s Television Critics Association panel in February that Paquin s character is actually an amalgamation of people he s met, not just publicists. All of the stories came from a nugget of truth,  Langsley said of the nightmare scenarios Robyn has to manage, from Freudian slips to botched cosmetics and extramarital affairs.Robyn and her fellow publicists regularly trade personal information for professional security, something Lansley said is quite common in the industry. Flack is all about how celebrity clients trade one scandal for another, conveniently wielding shame and sympathy to protect or regain their status.Ahead of Flack’s premiere, Paquin shared what she admires about Robyn and hinted just how wild the show’s ride will be. But first, she tells us what shows she deems binge-worthy.(Photo by courtesy Pop)What’s appointment viewing for you?Oh, I don’t have any… I don t even know what day or time things are on, but I m presuming it s either when my children are going to bed or when I already would like to be asleep. What’s in your streaming queue?(Photo by Netflix)I like documentaries. The darker the subject matter, the better. I m a big true crime [fan].Are you going to watch new Ted Bundy special on Netflix?I’ve already watched it. It’s fascinating, if you’re into that genre. But I also listen to those podcasts about stuff like that so…Like Dirty John?Oh my god, that was great. But again, I didn t know it was a TV show until I listened to the podcast and I was like, Oh, I feel like there s posters up for some, is it the same thing?  I m a little bit in my mother bubble. What shows are on your DVR?(Photo by Showtime)We are currently watching Escape at Dannemora… We re up to episode five, so if you ve seen the rest of it, don t spoil it.What’s coming soon that you’re excited for?(Photo by Pop)Flack. I’m serious. If I wasn’t in it, this would be a show I would be obsessed with. I mean, that opening scene’s pretty killer, right?Sophie-Marie for Rotten Tomatoes: What drew you to the character of Robyn? What s not to love? I mean, she s talented, smart, troubled and really good at her job — and morally ambiguous in all kinds of ways that I think are very real, raw, and authentic. And she gets some really, incredibly fun, smart, well-written dialogue. It kind of ticks all the boxes for me.What makes her so good at a job that requires her to kind of walk a moral line, or jump right off the moral cliff, so often? She had a really f -d up childhood, you know? I mean, she basically raised her younger sister because their mother was mentally unwell. … You end up finding out more about that as the series goes on. But there s also kind of a fight to survive-ness, like,  I will do whatever I need to do because I don t have a safety net. She s someone who has grown up in a household where mood stability was not a given and the ground rules changed all the time, because that s the nature of living with someone who s an addict or who has mental health issues. So that s not abnormal for her. So, one sister ends up with this sort of perfect, by-the-book family life and [Robyn] ends up [being] someone who isn t really sure who she is without the job of making other people s illusions a reality.
James Wan’s Aquaman may have started with the lowest opening ever in the DC Universe, but seven days later, it is looking more like Michael Phelps than some lowly dog paddler. The film is entering very exclusive territory this weekend just as two more December releases join the 0 million club by the time the clock strikes midnight on New Year’s Eve. That makes 32 for 2018 with at least two more films still hoping to surpass last year’s (and 2014’s) total of 33 to become second only to 2013’s 35 0 million-plus films. That record may come up short, but Hollywood has shot past its previous ticket sales record (.37 billion in 2016) and is now eyeing a billion year at the box office.King of the Crop: Aquaman Joins Impressive Club of December Releases(Photo by Jasin Boland/ ™ & © DC Comics)After its first weekend, Aquaman  was million behind Justice League. After weekend two it is now million ahead and climbing. How high? Quite actually. Because as of this Sunday, Wan’s film is now the sixth highest grossing December release after 10 days, behind five little films: Star Wars trio The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and Rogue One, as well as Avatar and Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. All seven December films to have made 0 million by this point have reached the 0 million mark, and Aquaman is million ahead of The Two Towers. Peter Jackson’s film opened on a Wednesday, so that pace will tighten over the next couple of days. But Return of the King made .8 million in its second weekend and ended with 9.7 million. Aquaman grossed .5 million and is likely looking at a final gross in that vicinity, which would surpass both Suicide Squad and Batman v Superman for second highest grossing feature film in the DC Universe behind Wonder Woman. With 8 million worldwide, it is the seventh highest grossing film of 2018 and will be passing Mission: Impossible – Fallout and Venom soon with its eye then on a billion dollars.Fresh Surprise: WWI Documentary Out-Performs New Releases(Photo by Warner Bros. Pictures)Speaking of Peter Jackson, his WWI 3D documentary, They Shall Not Grow Old, has become one of the top-grossing documentaries of the year. After just two nights. Fathom Events held special single-night screenings on December 17, when it broke the company’s record with .3 million, and then again this past Thursday, when it broke it again with another .37 million. That was more than this week’s openers, Holmes Watson and Vice, grossed on Thursday with a full day of screenings. With .7 million in two nights it has made nearly as much as partisan documentaries, Death of a Nation (with a 0% Tomatometer score) from pardoned felon Dinesh D’Souza (.88 million) and Michael Moore’s Fahrehheit 11/9 (.35 million). Warner Bros. will open the film in a few cities on January 11, and you can expect it to rise from the seventh highest grossing documentary of 2018 into the top five – and maybe even higher.Rotten Returns: Holmes Watson (aka the Anti-Aquaman)(Photo by Columbia Pictures)Holmes Watson opened in theaters without being screened for critics. Hey, Disney did the same thing for Christmas opener, Tombstone, back in the day, too. How bad could it be? Well, it is currently just the third wide-release of the year to score lower than 10% on the Tomatometer after Slender Man and Death of a Nation’s golden doughnut of 0%. That is where Holmes was with its initial set of reviews, but folks were already in the midst of paying good money to see it on Christmas Day. Around .4 million and 24 hours later, some were already calling it a “commercial flop” on Twitter despite the fact that only four of 23 films to open on Christmas to more than million failed to reach million. That still would not have been enough to cover its million budget in domestic dollars, but it’s not like it was Mortal Engines or Welcome to Marwen this month; however, Holmes Watson’s audience numbers have been scaling down to its current Rotten Tomatoes score of 9%. Though .7 million after its first six days still has it pacing for somewhere between -60 million, its numbers are diminishing at the pace of Aliens Vs. Predator – Requiem, which finished with just .7 million after it opened on Christmas. So it will depend on international audiences to determine whether the film is “a commercial flop” or not.The Top Ten and Beyond: Poppins Bumblebee To Join 0 Million Club Soon(Photo by Walt Disney Studios)Mary Poppins Returns just missed becoming the 26th film opening in December to reach 0 million in its first 12 days; though it will do so on New Year’s Eve. Of the films in its 12-day company that had between million to 7 million at this point, Poppins’ -million weekend is second only to Daddy’s Home’s .2 million. (Poppins is likely to fly past Daddy’s Home’s 0 million.) The next crop of films above them (sans Marley Me) are all 0 million grossers. So as long as Rob Marshall’s film maintains its current pace it should rise high enough to be one of the three highest grossing films of the season.Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse did join the 0 million club this weekend. At 3.6 million it is in the company of Catch Me If You Can, Les Miserables (2012), Into the Woods, True Grit (2010), and Unbroken, but its third weekend of .3 million surpasses all of theirs, suggesting the film is headed for north of 0 million — an estimate that could continue to rise with the word-of-mouth it is receiving.Bumblebee, with another million this weekend, is also headed for 0 million like every other film from December to have million after 10 days. Clint Eastwood’s The Mule, on the other hand, took 17 days to hit the million mark, but it is not out of the running to become the 34th film of 2018 to reach 0 million. For a film that needs around 0 million to break even, million seems to be the worst-case domestic scenario at this moment. As it is pretty closely aligned with the 0.7 million–grossing The Pelican Brief, there is still a possibility this will be Clint’s sixth film as a director to reach that height. While Holmes and Watson was grossing .4 million on Christmas Day, Adam McKay’s award hopeful, Vice, was gathering up .7 million and a 64% score on the Tomatometer. It has made million in its first six days and eyes somewhere around million final domestic gross, but is already Annapurna’s highest grossing film to date surpassing this summer’s Sundance pickup, Sorry To Bother You. Ralph Breaks the Internet has fallen behind the pace of last year’s Coco, but is still million ahead of Tangled, which keeps 0 million very much in the picture. It only takes Ralph and Poppins to break the single-year record of most films to reach the milestone in any year. A 0 million final gross may be out of reach for Illumination’s The Grinch, but its 6 million makes it undoubtedly one of the biggest hits of the season, even while it could end up being the company’s third-lowest grossing film to date; albeit one with still over 0 million in profit.Beyond the Top Ten you will find both The Favourite (.2 million) and Mary Queen of Scots ( million) doing decent business in less than 850 theaters each. Both continue to do better than Robert Zemeckis’ Welcome to Marwen, which has grossed .7 million. There are still seven films this year further in the red than Marwen (including Ralph Breaks the Internet), though it is still little comfort being among the 10 biggest financial losers of 2018.In further limited release news, we have the three best per-theater-averages of the week: The Ruth Bader Ginsburg drama, On the Basis of Sex (74%) averaged ,909 this weekend and has made .5 million in 33 theaters since Christmas. Destroyer (76%) has been in three theaters since Christmas and has made 5,661. It averaged ,491 this weekend. Then there is Stan Ollie (89%), which opened on Friday in five theaters, averaging ,935 for a total of ,674. Aquaman had the fourth best average with ,497, and Barry Jenkins’ If Beale Street Could Talk was fifth, adding 60 theaters (for a total of 65). It averaged ,686 and has grossed nearly million. This Time Last Year: The Last Jedi Held Off Jumanji for the Last Time(Photo by Walt Disney Pictures)Star Wars: The Last Jedi maintained the top spot for a third straight week (and passed the 0 million mark), though Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle closed the gap with a .5 million-to- million showdown. Christmas day openers, All the Money in the World and Molly’s Game made .7 million and .3 million, respectively, in their first full week of release. Steven Spielberg’s The Post and Paul Thomas Anderson’s Phantom Thread led the per-theater-average list with ,342 (nine theaters) and ,124 (four theaters). The Top Ten films grossed a total of 3.3 million over the weekend, which included New Year’s Eve, and they averaged 65.1% on the Tomatometer. This year’s Top Ten grossed 3.1 million and averaged 65.6%.On the Vine: There Is No Escape From Horror in 2019(Photo by Columbia Pictures)The new year kicks off with horror about domains from which there appears to be no safe room, though do not expect to see a Tomatometer score for either until later in the week. The PG-13 Escape Room with Taylor Russell, Deborah Ann Woll, and Tyler Labine should get a score just before it opens. Then Eli, from the director of Sinister II, will get reviews from critics brave enough to check out the tale of a boy with auto-immune issues stuck in a dangerous home when it opens on Friday. The Full Top 10: December 28-30Aquaman .5 million (8.7 million total)Mary Poppins Returns .0 million (.9 million total)Bumblebee – .5 mi

Ghcxuf Today s Ketchup brings you another 10 headlines from the world of film development news, covering such titles as Aquaman 2, Breaking Bad, Coming to America 2, Dune, and Wicked. This WEEK S TOP STORYAQUAMAN GETTING BOTH A SEQUEL AND A HORROR MOVIE SPINOFF(Photo by Warner Bros.)With over .121 billion, Aquaman is now the highest grossing DC Comics movie (worldwide) ever, even above The Dark Knight, etc. That s quite an achievement for a character long considered a joke (including a long-running story arc on HBO s Entourage). All indications suggest that Warner Bros. is taking its cue from the successes of both Aquaman and Wonder Woman to tilt the tone of future movies away from the grimdark of Christopher Nolan and Zack Snyder s films. Those numbers also made it super obvious that Aquaman would get a sequel, and that s exactly what s happening, with one of the first film s screenwriters now working on a follow-up. Aquaman director James Wan is on board as producer, but it s unclear as to whether he will also direct the sequel. Warner Bros. isn t stopping there, however, as they ve also hired two newbie screenwriters to work on a horror movie spinoff called The Trench, about the deadly amphibious creatures seen attacking the hero and his love, Mera in Aquaman. The main characters from Aquaman are not expected to appear in The Trench, which suggests that the horror movie may instead focus on surface dwellers who come into contact with the monsters separate from any involvement with Atlantis. It s also possible that Aquaman 2 and The Trench could just be the start of a new franchise of Aquaman related films in the same way that Batman has led to movies for Suicide Squad, Joker, Birds of Prey, etc.Fresh Developments1. AQUAMAN AND THANOS JOIN THE STAR-STUDDED DUNE REBOOT(Photo by Jasin Boland/Warner Bros., Marvel Studios)Director Denis Villeneuve (Arrival, Sicario) is following his sequel to a beloved 1980s sci-fi movie (Blade Runner 2049) with a reboot of another. Even before this week, the Dune reboot had an impressive cast that included Javier Bardem, Dave Bautista, Rebecca Ferugson, Oscar Isaac, Charlotte Rampling, Stellan Skarsgard, and Zendaya, all supporting Timothée Chalamet as the lead character of Paul Atreides. The latest two stars both hail from recent superhero movies: Aquaman and Avengers: Infinity War. Jason Momoa, who s coming off the highest grossing DC Comics movie ever (as mentioned above), is joining Dune to play the Atreides swordsmaster Duncan Idaho, the only character to appear in all six of Frank Herbert s original Dune novels. Josh Brolin, who plays Marvel s Thanos, is also joining Dune as Gurney Halleck, another Atreides follower who, in David Lynch s film, was played by Patrick Stewart.2. JESSE PINKMAN S BREAKING BAD MOVIE TO DEBUT ON NETFLIX (Photo by Ursula Coyote/AMC)In November, we learned that Aaron Paul would be returning as Jesse Pinkman for a Breaking Bad sequel movie. This week, we learned more about what exactly a Breaking Bad movie would be (as in, is it a theatrical movie, a cable movie, or something else?). The answer, as is becoming more and more common these days, is that the new film will premiere on Netflix first before eventually making its way to AMC, the channel that originally produced and aired Breaking Bad (and still produces its spinoff series Better Call Saul). The movie is reportedly still being written, and it s not yet known if there will be a role for Bryan Cranston as Walter White, but Cranston said recently that he d be open to return, if asked. The last four seasons of Breaking Bad were all Certified Fresh at 100%. Here s a breakdown of everything we know about the film.3. BLACK PANTHER S CHADWICK BOSEMAN JOINS SPIKE LEE S DA 5 BLOODS (Photo by Marvel Studios)Speaking of Netflix, they re also stepping in to help director Spike Lee (Do the Right Thing, Malcolm X) deliver his next film after last year s Academy Award nominee BlacKkKlansman (Certified Fresh at 95%). Spike Lee s film for Netflix is called Da 5 Bloods, and is a drama dealing with the aftermath of the Vietnam War. Delroy Lindo will star as a veteran who leads a group back to Vietnam searching for the remains of a fellow soldier and hidden gold, and Jean Reno (The Professional) will play an unscrupulous French businessman who deals in nefarious activities in Vietnam. This week, Da 5 Bloods gained Marvel s Black Panther, as Chadwick Boseman has been cast to play the son of one of the 5 Bloods. Although no other actors are officially cast yet, Lee has reportedly been talking to Don Cheadle, Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), and his longtime frequent collaborator, Samuel L. Jackson.4. YESTERDAY TRAILER REVEALS MUSICAL S SECRET WEAPON: THE BEATLES(Photo by Sony Pictures)Last March, we learned that Baby Driver and Downton Abbey star Lily James had landed the lead female role in a musical to be directed by Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting) with an unknown premise somehow connected to the 1960s or 1970s. It can be frustrating when a movie doesn t reveal its premise, but you have to give Danny Boyle credit here for keeping Yesterday so well hidden for over a year. The trailer for Yesterday (6/28/2019) debuted online this week and revealed that relative newcomer Himesh Patel will be starring as a musician who wakes up in a world where the Beatles (seemingly) never existed, leading him to quickly become one of the world s biggest pop stars. The other movies that Yesterday will be going up against on June 28th include the historical drama Ford v Ferrari, Tiffany Haddish s Limited Partners, and the shark sequel 47 Meters Down: Uncaged.5. WITCHCRAFT UPDATE: WICKED IN 2021, OCTAVIA SPENCER IN THE WITCHES The hit musical Wicked (based on The Wizard of Oz) debuted on Broadway in 2003, and was in development as a movie just a few years later. The project really started to move in 2013, which was the year that Oz the Great and Powerful came out, and at one point, it was scheduled for release in 2016, which is three years ago. Well, Universal Pictures is now scheduling Wicked for release on December 22, 2021, which is five days after Avatar 3 (yes, there s already an Avatar 3 in the works). In related news, Robert Zemeckis is preparing to direct a remake of 1990 s The Witches (Fresh at 100%), based on the book by Roald Dahl. Anne Hathaway was recently cast in the role originally played by Anjelica Huston, and this week Octavia Spencer also signed on as the grandmother who has to help her grandson defeat the schemes of the titular Witches (10/16/2020).6. COMING TO AMERICA SEQUEL GETS A 2020 RELEASE DATEJust a couple of weeks ago, we reported that Eddie Murphy was set to return in a sequel to the hit 1988 comedy Coming to America. Paramount Pictures has now greenlit Coming to America 2 for release next summer on August 7, 2020. The premise of the sequel isn t yet known, but Eddie Murphy will reprise his role as Akeem Joffer of the fictional African nation of Zamunda. It s not yet known if other original cast members (most notably Arsenio Hall and James Earl Jones) might also return. Coming to America 2 was written by Black-ish creator Kenya Barris and will be directed by Craig Brewer (Hustle Flow, Black Snake Moan), who recently directed Eddie Murphy in the blaxploitation biopic My Name is Dolemite for Netflix.7. CHRIS PRATT JOINS SCI-FI MOVIE GHOST DRAFT(Photo by Walt Disney Studios)With filming of Avengers: Endgame now wrapped, many of Marvel s stars are landing new jobs. This week alone, we see Thanos, Black Panther, Captain America, and Winter Soldier all getting new roles. Chris Pratt, who plays Guardians of the Galaxy leader Star-Lord, is now in negotiations for another science fiction action movie called Ghost Draft. Details about the premise are being mostly kept secret for now, but we do know what it s about: a husband and father is drafted to fight a future war in which the fate of humanity may rely on his ability to correct issues of the past. From that, we can guess that some sort of time travel is involved (unless there s some other way to correct issues of the past ). Ghost Draft will be directed by Chris McKay (The LEGO Batman Movie), who is also developing Jonny Quest and Nightwing movies for Warner Bros.Rotten Ideas2. CHRIS EVANS JOINS INFINITE PAST LIVES SCI FI MOVIE (Photo by Zade Rosenthal/Marvel Studios)Moving right along, another Marvel star in the news this week was Chris Evans (Captain America and, previously, Human Torch). Perhaps coincidentally, the movie Chris Evans is in talks for may bear some similarity to Chris Pratt s Ghost Draft. Infinite (based on D. Eric Maikranz s novel The Reincarnationist Papers) will tell the story of a group of near-immortal men and women who are reincarnated over the centuries and known as the Infinite. To defeat an evil mastermind who wants to destroy the planet, the group must rely on a man who suffers from schizophrenia and will have to learn that all his vivid dreams are actually memories from past lives, in order to defeat the villain. Infinite will be directed by Antoine Fuqua, whose most recent film was the Denzel Washington sequel Equalizer 2 (51% Rotten). In (directly) related news, Sebastian Stan (AKA Captain America s sidekick Bucky) will replace Chris Evans in the drama The Devil All the Time, now that Evans is likely to star in Infinite instead.1. BRYAN SINGER FALLOUT LEADS TO INDEFINITE DELAYS FOR RED SONJA (Photo by MGM courtesy Everett Collection)The Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody may have won a Golden Globe and earned multiple Academy Awards nominations, but the film s director is effectively persona non grata. Last month, new allegations of sexual misconduct by director Bryan Singer (X-Men, Bohemian Rhapsody) were reported by The Atlantic. Soon after, Millennium Films confirmed that they were still developing a Red Sonja reboot with Singer directing, but just three weeks later, those plans are now delayed, with Millennium no longer selling the project at the European Film Market in Berlin. Singer hasn t officially been fired (yet), but the high profile fantasy adventure cancelling filming in Bulgaria this spring certainly seems to point in that direction. Red Sonja was created by Marvel Comics in 1973 as a Conan the Barbarian spinoff character who quickly received her own popular solo comic book title (including later titles at other companies). Even without the allegations against Bryan Singer, some had called for a female director for Red Sonja, especially following the success of Patty Jenkins Wonder Woman. In (possibly) related news, Millennium Films is now preparing to make The Legend of Sinbad, a different fantasy adventure, with director Frank Coraci (who hasn t helmed a Fresh movie since 1998 s The Wedding Singer). 😈😈

ROR体育官方下载 It is rare that the box office has an upset of the magnitude of this weekend s. It s even rarer that such a surprise victory does not come with the normal spoils one might expect from it. All the projections showed the adaptation of Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep leading the pack with a haul in the mid-20s to as much as million. Roland Emmerich’s WWII FX-laden updating of Midway was trailing even behind Last Christmas among most projections. Nevertheless, Midway bucked the odds – or the typically wrong tracking services – and pulled out a victory with .5 million, albeit one that is the lowest-grossing number 1 in November since 2012 when The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 – in its third weekend and in the doldrum weekend post-Thanksgiving – grossed .4 million.King of the Crop: Midway Causes Major Upset, But Faces A Battle to Profit(Photo by © Lionsgate)Midway s surprising victory at the box office does come with some caveats. Aside from the Twilight statistic noted above, Midway’s .5 million is the lowest opening weekend for Roland Emmerich since Stargate in 1994 (.6 million) and it seems unlikely to stretch to .5 million as that film did. (Though if this weekend taught us anything, it s that we should prepare for surprises.) That would then make it Emmerich’s lowest-grossing wide release since 1992’s Universal Soldier made .2 million. It will gross more than that but in the history of November only two wide releases – not rated “G” or “PG” – have ever opened to less than million and grossed over million. They were Martin Scorsese’s Cape Fear (.09 million) and A Bad Moms Christmas (.11 million).Lionsgate can surely promote Midway as “the number 1 film in the country” this week but it is still staring down a 0 million price tag with not a lot of international appeal for its American victory tale. Michael Bay’s Pearl Harbor grossed 0 million in international dollars. Lionsgate has only had nine films make as much as 0 million overseas: four were Hunger Games films and one was the final Twilight film. (The other four Twilights were released by Summit before Lionsgate acquired them.)Rotten Returns: Dark Fate indeed, for Terminator, but its Tomatometer score is rising (Photo by © Paramount Pictures)Paramount is not having the greatest of weeks. Their family film, Playing With Fire, is the worst-reviewed (24% on the Tomatometer) of the new releases this week; the nearly million-budgeted film grossed .8 million, which is hardly a disaster – and better than some projections – but not a rousing success, either. It is last week’s release of Terminator: Dark Fate, though, that is just not looking good; it dropped 63% to .8 million in its second week. A solid haul is not unheard of from here: Dark Fate is just a million behind Paramount s own Daddy’s Home 2’s 10-day gross (.21 million) just two years ago as it went on to squeak out over 4 million. But its second weekend is over .5 million less than what the Farrell/Wahlberg sequel earned in its second weekend. Dark Fate is also about a half-million ahead of The Muppets, which had a massive fallback in its second weekend back in 2011 and grossed over million. Terminator’s second weekend is also slightly behind that one (.08 million). However, an optimistic million finish means nothing without a stronger international showing and to date it sits at just 0 million when it is going to need more than 0 million outside the U.S. to break even. On the plus side, Dark Fate is one of those rare films whose Tomatometer score is actually getting better as it expands and more critics see it: it is currently Fresh at 72% after spending time in the 60s.The Top 10 And Beyond: Doctor Sleep Fails to Shine, Joker Enters The All-Time Top 50Doctor Sleep this week became the victim of too-lofty expectations. The numbers are truly disappointing though, which has pundits asking if Warner Bros. should have sold its connections to The Shining more forcefully – and whether there was an appetite for more Shining in the first place. Only four Stephen King adaptations have ever opened to over million – and two of them were this year with It: Chapter 2 and the Pet Sematary redux. (1408 and the first It were the others.) Inflation notwithstanding, Doctor Sleep had the 10th best opening for a King adaptation and at 73% on the Tomatometer ranks as the 11th best-reviewed theatrical release of a film based on the author s work.1980’s The Shining grossed approximately 9.5 million in adjusted dollars. Doctor Sleep’s .1 million start trails behind even Dreamcatcher, which opened to .02 million back in 2003. If you gave The Lawnmower Man an inflation boost from 1992, it would have grossed million today, right around what Mike Flanagan’s Ouija: Origin of Evil sequel opened to (.06 million) – though we should note that was 10 days before Halloween in 2016. The trouble for Doctor Sleep might have been with the release date. Horror is not a popular genre in November these days. Not a single horror film has grossed over million from a November start since before 2000. The Mist, a 2007 Stephen King adaptation released over Thanksgiving (and the 12th-highest–rated King adaptation at 72% on the Tomatometer) took in what equates to about million in ticket sales today on its first weekend. Also not a great genre in November: romantic comedies. At least, successful November rom-com releases have been pretty sparse. There have been some moderate numbers over the years for films like The American President (.07 million) and Love Actually (.69 million). Shallow Hal grossed .8 million, but that was sold more on its high-concept premise than as a traditional rom-com. Paul Feig’s Last Christmas began with .6 million this weekend. That puts the film likely in the - million range. As for those who are surprised Universal put out a Christmas movie in November, rather than December, it s not uncommon practice – and has worked well for some releases in the past. These November releases with Christmas in the title show the release strategy can succeed wonderfully, and fail spectacularly:How the Grinch Stole Christmas (.08 million opening / 0.04 million total)A Christmas Carol (2009) (.05 / 7.85)Four Christmases (.06 / 0.14)Christmas with the Kranks (.57 / .78)A Bad Moms Christmas (.75 / .1)This Christmas (.95 / .12)Arthur Christmas (.06 / .46)Almost Christmas (.13 / .15)A Very Harold Kumar 3-D Christmas (.95 / .06)Ernest Saves Christmas (.71 / .2)A Christmas Story (.07 / .29)All I Want For Christmas (.64 / .81)One Magic Christmas (.66 / .67)I’ll Be Home For Christmas (.89 / .21)The Man Who Invented Christmas (.35 / .52)In better news for Warner Bros. this week, Todd Phillips’ Joker has passed more milestones. Its 3 million domestic and another 0 million internationally gives the film 4 million. That means it has now joined the list of the 50 highest-grossing films of all-time. Say goodbye to Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (and say it soon to Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and The Jungle Book once Frozen II and The Rise of Skywalker open) as Joker enters the list this weekend at 44th place; it is also headed soon to become the 44th film ever to reach billion.Maleficent: Mistress of Evil has had a bit of a rebound lately. It is going to pass 0 million at home sometime this week and it is now over 0 million worldwide. But it is still going to need about another 0 million before getting out of the red. The Addams Family is now well into profit with over 4 million worldwide, million of that domestically. United Artists Releasing (a combo of Annapurna, MGM, and Orion) had some rough box office results earlier this year with Booksmart and Laika’s Missing Link, but they have been more recently putting out movies that have been turning profits, like their remakes of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels (a.k.a. The Hustle) and Child’s Play. The Addams Family will be their biggest earner to date.Check out Harriet star Cynthia Erivo s Five Favorite FilmsHarriet dropped 38% and made .2 million in its second weekend. Between that and its .46 million gross to date, the film is in the vicinity of Allied and Stranger Than Fiction, which each managed to just get over the million line. That could make it just the 18th film in Focus Features history to reach that mark.Fox Searchlight expanded Taika Waititi’s Jojo Rabbit from 256 theaters into 802 and it just missed hitting the top 10 with .9 million. That puts the film squarely between the studio’s (500) Days of Summer, which went from a third weekend of .77 million in 266 theaters to .73 million in 817 theaters, and Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird, which made .51 million in 238 theaters in weekend three and jumped into 791 theaters the next week to gross .05 million. Those films had .35 and .72 million, respectively, after 24 days. Jojo Rabbit is at .1 million.Bong Joon-Ho’s Parasite moved into an “official” wide release this week, expanding into 602 theaters. It grossed another .5 million, which is better than The Farewell’s move to wide release from 409-to-704 theaters in its fifth weekend, where it grossed .09 million. The Neon release also has a slightly better per-theater-average (,152) than Boyhood had (,900), when it jumped in the same period from 310-to-506 theaters. The Farewell had .2 million after 31 days; Parasite has .2 million (and another .5 million internationally); Boyhood had .5 million and grossed over million. I, Tonya is Neon’s highest-grossing domestic film to date with .9 million.Check out Parasite star Song Kang-ho s Five Favorite FilmsFinally, in limited release news, Amazon’s release of Shia LaBeouf’s autobiographical Honey Boy grossed 8,825 in four theaters. That is the second-best per-theater-average (,206) for Amazon to date, ahead of both Late Night (,576) and Beautiful Boy (,722), also each released in four theaters. The 2018 Suspiria remake had a ,019 average in just two theaters. It is also the fourth-best PTA of 2019 behind Parasite, The Farewell, and Avengers: Endgame. This Time Last Year: The Grinch Kicks Off Holiday Season With Plenty of GreenThe second weekend of November 2018 brought us Dr. Seuss’ The Grinch, from Illumination. The feature-length animated version of the classic story opened to .57 million. Hanging strong was Bohemian Rhapsody, grossing .2 million and just getting over its first 0 million in 10 days. In third place was the Nazi monster film, Overlord, with .2 million and back in sixth place was Claire Foy taking over the role of Lisbeth Salander in The Girl In the Spider’s Web, which made just .8 million. Just before the weekend, Venom passed the 0 million mark. A Star is Born rose to 8 million and David Gordon Green’s Halloween was at 6 million. The top 10 films grossed a total of 2.58 million and averaged 59.2% on the Tomatometer; this year’s top 10 grossed an estimated .7 million and averaged 55% with critics. On the Vine: Ford, Ferrari, and A Trio of AngelsNext week a pair of new challengers for the number 1 spot emerge and most are betting on James Mangold’s Ford v Ferrari with Christian Bale and Matt Damon to be victorious. The true-life racing drama is Certified Fresh at 91% on the Tomatometer after a successful festival run. The box office must also find room for Elizabeth Banks’ new reboot of Charlie’s Angels with Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska. The previous big-screen iterations both grossed over 0 million, but will this one draw the same nostalgic interest? Warner Bros. is also releasing Bill Condon’s latest, The Good Liar, with Ian McKellen and Helen Mirren, which is expected to come in on the low-end of the charts. Then, finally, in limited release is Trey Edward Shults’ Waves, which is Certified Fresh at 88% from its festival run and which is being touted as a potential awards contender. The Full Top 10: November 8-10Midway (2019) 42% – .5 million (.5 million total)Doctor Sleep (2019) 78% – .1 million (.1 million total)Playing With Fire (2019) 24% – .8 million (.8 million total)Last Christmas (2019) 46% – .6 million (.6 million total)Terminator: Dark Fate (2019) 70% – .8 million (.46 million total)Joker (2019) 68% – .2 million (3.49 million total)Maleficent: Mistress of Evil (2019) 39% – million (.3 million total)Harriet (2019) 73% – .23 million (.46 million total)Zombieland: Double Tap (2019) 68% – .32 million (.66 million total)The Addams Family (2019) 45% – .2 million (.47 million total)

Things, as you may imagine, don t go as planned. Though Barking Dogs is underseen in the West compared to the rest of Bong s filmography (it doesn t have enough reviews for a Tomatometer), the film immediately established the trademarks that would ultimately lead Bong to a historic Oscar victory, including the director s taste for dark humor, lethal thrills, and social commentary, all wrapped in elusive and smooth filmmaking technique. His follow-up, 2003 s Memories of Murder, established Bong as one to watch on the international scene, a director able to take influences from Martin Scorsese, Quentin Tarantino, and David Fincher and mold them into something fresh. The Host expanded his audience thanks to its high-concept monster movie angle, palatable for genre fans searching for something outside of mainstream fare. He collaborated with Michel Gondry and Leos Carax for Tokyo!. And with Mother, Bong bent the horror genre to his will. Sci-fi was next with Snowpiercer, starring Chris Evans, who naturally drew in plenty of outside interest: Come for Captain America, stay for the kooky and violent class-society parable set on a post-apocalyptic winter train. 2017 s Okja, an environmentalist fable, continued to see Bong refining his ability to mix wildly disparate genres and tones. Every movie he s directed has been designated Certified Fresh by the critics. This all came to a head with Parasite, the unclassifiable film that has whipped audiences into a frenzy for its twisty plot, brazen character work, and social outrage. Parasite made history when it became the first non–English-language film to win the Academy Award for Best Picture. Bong collected that statue at the 2020 ceremony, along with Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best International Film, tying Walt Disney for the most Oscars awarded to a person in a single night.Having officially put South Korea on the map forever in cinema, we re looking back on Bong Joon-ho s movies, ranked by Tomatometer.
