亚博手机版官方下载采用百度引擎7（Baidu 7）d the Winter Soldier shedding a light on some sociopolitical intrigues of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s primary Earth attention is beginning to turn toward Loki for the next level of Multiversal madness. But what is it all about? How can Loki (Tom Hiddleston) star in his own series? While some of those answers are still lost in the mists of the Nine Realms, we have some idea of what the show will be thanks to trailers, casting choices, and some pre-release marketing. So let’s take a look at what we know about Loki so far.[Updated on 5/5/21 Scroll to the end for new info.]A Little Background(Photo by ©Paramount Pictures)As it happens, Loki was one of the earliest reported series planned for Disney+ alongside the programs that became WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Solider. Like those series, the intent was to focus on characters who appeared in the films but generally supported the main Avengers cast. It is still the guiding principle as series like Hawkeye and Secret Invasion will promote supporting players to lead roles. But Loki never quite fit the supporting character mold, as he is as much a star attraction in the Thor movies as the God of Thunder himself. Some would even argue Loki is the main draw of those films. To recap, the character is Asgardian prince Thor’s (Chris Hemsworth) adoptive and quarrelsome brother. He also happens to be the son of the Frost Giant king Laufey. As we meet the pair, Loki engineers a plan to get Thor exiled so he can become Odin s (Anthony Hopkins) heir apparent. Things do not go as planned, and after Thor throws him off the Rainbow Bridge connecting Asgard to the other realms, he meets Thanos (Josh Brolin) and joins the quest for the Infinity Stones. He quickly locates the Space Stone on Earth and plans another scheme to recover it while laying waste to the planet. This also goes awry with Thor taking him back to Asgard in shackles. But his knowledge of the other ways in and out of Asgard come in handy when the Dark Elves invade and Thor must spirit Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) out of the realm. Loki seemingly dies during the adventure, but it later turns out he took advantage of the situation to assume Odin’s identity and run Asgard his way.(Photo by ©Marvel Studios)It turned out to be a mistake as it allowed Hela (Cate Blanchett) to escape her confinement and absolutely wreck the party Loki started in Asgard. After a tense conversation with her, both he and Thor would end up on Sakar, where they eventually agree to join forces and stop Hela. Although, in order to do it, Asgard is destroyed.Soon after, Loki dies at the hands of Thanos, who was mighty angry that he never returned with the Space Stone. And, now that we think about, he also had the Mind Stone (hidden in a scepter) in a transfer of weapons that never quite made sense.Charting the course of Loki’s story across the Marvel Cinematic Universe films is important because, despite often faking his death, that Loki is still dead, and his journey is seemingly over. The Loki Of Loki(Photo by Marvel Entertainment)The Disney+ series will presumably revolve around the Loki we saw escaping with the Tesseract in Avengers: Endgame. In this series, Hiddleston is playing a version of Loki who is much angrier, more obviously villainous, and still ready to hand the Space Stone over to Thanos. Well, maybe. As a trickster, he probably always planned to keep it just out of the Mad Titan s reach. According to some reports, his plan is to use the Infinity Stone to alter human history. But the teaser Disney and Marvel released last December complicates this notion with the program’s apparent status quo – a notion amplified by April’s full trailer. Loki is now the guest of the Time Variance Authority, an organization devoted to keeping the timelines (and the Multiverse) secure. Loki’s theft of the Tesseract at the moment seen in Endgame is an aberration of the timeline and must be corrected. Being the God of Mischief, though, it is easy to see how he would confound the TVA. Less clear, though, is how this conflict would send him careening through time.Although, we have a couple of guesses…Joining him on this journey are actors like Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku, Sasha Lane, Erika Coleman, and (for a single episode) Richard E. Grant. Wilson plays Mobius M. Mobius, a TVA middle manager dedicated to getting the truth out of Loki. The others, like Mbatha-Raw s Judge Renslayer and Mosaku’s Hunter B-15, will meet Loki as he enters TVA processing and Mobius selects him for a perilous mission. Or does Loki volunteer to atone for his crimes? Apparently stuck in a thriller of his own making, Loki is both cop and criminal. It is a Scanner Darkly like situation that somehow leads him to become infamous 1970s hijacker D.B. Cooper. There is still the possibility, of course, that the Loki we’ve come to know and love may have cheated death again and is playing a game with his time variant. It would not be the first time Loki (at least in the comics) has faced himself in a battle of wits. But what end would it serve the Prime Loki to have a variant of himself running loose?Well, it would be mischievous for a start. The Infinity Saga Connection(Photo by ©Marvel Studios)But with the Space Stone seemingly in TVA custody (note the TVA operative holding the Tesseract early in the April trailer), it would seem the series will also concern itself with some unfinished business from the Infinity Saga – namely, the Hulk’s (Mark Ruffalo) promise to return the Stones to their rightful place in time. As the Ancient One (Tilda Swinton) warned him, keeping the Stones (or misplacing them) would cause the creation of aberrant timelines which would unleash their own horrors. A deleted Endgame scene offered a glimpse of a reality in which Dormammu could not be bargained with, for example. And in the December teaser, we got a glimpse of a completely devastated New York. But then, as we are presumably dealing with a younger version of Loki, would he have the empathy to care about such things? As the TVA’s jurisdiction extends into the Multiverse, it is possible these scenes of devastation occur in realities other than the MCU we’re used to. If this is the case, Loki may be the series to most thoroughly cover the nature of a Multiverse, which will matter to Marvel films fairly soon. In fact, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige already confirmed the events of the series, like those of WandaVision, will spill into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness a project that now seems poised to fill the role of an Avengers film in Phase 4 of the MCU.(Photo by Marvel Entertainment)And while we’re talking connections, there’s that brief glimpse in the April trailer of Loki seemingly entering the Soul Space and talking to Black Widow. Of course, that could easily be as much of a distraction as all the talk of Mutants appearing on WandaVision. Meanwhile, the inclusion of Judge Renslayer in the series may lead to a connection with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania villain Kang the Conqueror (Jonathan Majors), as her comic book counterpart has a history with the time-travelling despot. Then there is, of course, the person who actually went back in time to put the Stones back where they belong. Now, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) definitely put the Space Stone that Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) retrieved from the 1970s back in place, but would he feel honor-bound to recover the one Loki stole during their first attempt to get the Tesseract after the Battle of New York? Maybe that’s a question for the second season. Speaking of which Loki Will Have A Second Season(Photo by Jasin Boland/©Marvel/©Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures)Although initially announced to be a limited series like WandaVision and TFaTWS, Loki appears to have lied about its status as a miniseries. Instead, plans are already underway for a second season of the program. Such a change is consistent for the character and an alteration Hiddleston could definitely live with. Part of the original appeal in making the first Marvel Studios shows limited was allowing the actors to have maximum flexibility in their schedules. But Hiddleston is no stranger to shooting television and fitting the format’s demands into his acting calendar. In fact, out of all the Avengers actors to appear in a Marvel TV series, he would seem to be the most game to continue. And why not? The fans love him as Loki. He clearly loves playing the part, too – just look up that video of his appearance as Loki at the 2013 San Diego Comic-Con to see the glee on his face while wearing the horns (figuratively, anyway). Also, since he will once again be the more devious and callous version of the character (presumably), we get to experience him becoming an anti-hero (or is that anti-villain?) in a whole new way. That certainly makes Loki a series worth watching when its six-episode first season debuts in June.Wednesdays Are the New FridaysOn May 5, 2021, Marvel released a new teaser and, more importantly, an announcement video featuring Hiddleston out of character and addressing the audience. In the latter, Hiddleston interrupts a series of iconic superhero props Cap s shield, Iron Man s mask, Mjolnir to introduce himself and lament the way Loki is often sidelined in similar montages. He concludes by stating, Wednesdays are the new Fridays, after which the video reveals Loki s premiere date has been moved up a couple days from Friday, June 11 to Wednesday, June 9. New episodes will drop every Wendesday thereafter, breaking the pattern set by WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. He s a tricky one, that God of Mischief.Season 1 of Loki will premiere on June 9, 2021 on Disney+.On an Apple device? Follow Rotten Tomatoes on Apple News.
Who is superhero cinema’s ultimate genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist? The wise-cracking tech head who took down Thanos? Or the reclusive, brooding, vengeful detective who looks as good in a tux as he does zipping between the buildings of Gotham? In our latest episode of Vs., Rotten Tomatoes Contributing Editor Mark Ellis is pitting the MCU’s Iron Man against DC’s Dark Knight, comparing their box office pull, Tomatometer and Audience Scores, and the quality and inventiveness of their gadgets, all to declare who is the superior super-powered scion. As always, if you don t agree with our choice of winner, let us have it in the comments. Join us weekly as Rotten Tomatoes reports on what s opening, expanding, and coming to the specialty box office. From promising releases from new voices to experimental efforts from storied filmmakers – or perhaps the next indie darling to go the distance for end-of-year accolades – we will break it all down for you here each week in Fresh Indie Finds. This week at the specialty box office, we get further evidence that the 2020 Oscar race for Best Documentary and Best International Film is going to leave everyone disappointed; there are just too many award-worthy features. This week we add a German horror-thriller and dramatic tale of workers on strike in France to the Best International Film short-list and two bio-documentaries that would in any other year be almost assured a spot on the Oscar docs shortlist but will likely not make the cut given this year s staggering competition. And as we look to upcoming indie releases, new trailers from Martin Freeman and Nicolas Cage have piqued our interest.Opening This Weekend

3.99.2 2月喜迎(Photo by Rachel Murray/Getty Images for Netflix)Over the course of the past two weeks, a monumental change in the way Marvel Entertainment handles its creative endeavors took place. On the ground, it may appear like a humdrum shift of executives, but its effects will be far reaching. The change? Kevin Feige, president of Marvel Studios, is now the chief creative officer at Marvel overall. This means he has the final say in all of their film, television, and publishing endeavors. At the moment, it appears the change will not drastically upset the day-to-day business of Marvel Comics, but the news almost immediately changed things at Marvel Television, the unit of Marvel Entertainment run by Jeph Loeb.Loeb has been the executive vice president of Marvel Television since 2010, making him the ultimate authority on programs like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and animated offerings like the current Spider-Man and the Marvel Rising series. He also shepherded Marvel efforts in the streaming sphere with the Netflix series like Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage and Runaways on Hulu and served as an executive producer on FX s Legion.RELATED: Kevin Feige s Oral History of the Marvel Cinematic UniverseBut shortly after Feige was announced as the new CCO, word broke of Loeb’s planned departure from the company, a move that reportedly was in the works prior to Feige’s new appointment. The news follows a general trend established when Marvel Studios, not Marvel Television, announced it would make limited run series with its MCU Avengers for the Disney+ service. For fans of characters like the Scarlet Witch and Hawkeye, there is nothing but good news here. Fans of Marvel Television, however, have found their favorite shows disappearing in a snap. So let’s take a look at the potential ramifications of Loeb’s departure and what it means for Marvel Television.Marvel Television May Cease To Be a Distinct UnitAs we often like to mention when discussing Marvel, the names of their divisions matter in the scope of the Walt Disney Company overall. And in this case, the distinction is the primary issue. Marvel Studios is a division of the Walt Disney Studio while Marvel Television is a unit of Marvel Entertainment, which operates as a separate entity from the Studio in the Walt Disney family of companies. This was not always the case, though. In 2015, Feige initiated Marvel Studios transfer to the Walt Disney Studio, reportedly to escape the control of Marvel Chairman Isaac Perlmutter. His effort was successful, but it changed a key element of Marvel Television s strategy: the notion that Marvel’s TV shows would be connected to the films. After Marvel Studios left Marvel Entertainment, those connections generally amounted to namechecks in Marvel Television series with zero reciprocity on the studio side until James D Arcy’s cameo in Avengers: Endgame as Agent Carter’s Edwin Jarvis. But beyond this creative divide was the sense that the studio and Marvel Television were far more separate than anyone was really willing to admit. Although, this separation was made crystal clear last May when Loeb himself told Rotten Tomatoes and various other reporters that creative decisions for the sixth and seven seasons of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. had to be made without the knowledge of Endgame’s five-year jump in time. We had to go without knowing where they were going, he said. Otherwise, we d be living in a world that was brilliantly shown in Endgame. RELATED: Disney s Streaming Service: Disney+ s Price, New Shows, Launch Date, and MoreThis lack of communication will disappear with Feige now in charge of Marvel Television — although, it is currently unclear if Marvel Television will remain its own branded unit. Thanks to the Disney+ limited series, Marvel Studios built up its own television production unit which may make Marvel Television entirely redundant. Also, considering the unfortunate amount of cancellations in Marvel Television’s column over the last year — including Cloak Dagger, which Freeform finally canceled last Friday — the unit may just be dissolved entirely.Although, it is also possible Marvel Studios will use the name and some of the people in the unit. Presumably, its successful children’s animation initiatives will continue on with minimal changes, in much the same way Marvel Comics will continue with its current leadership. And though it means some good people will most likely lose their jobs, at least everything will finally be connected. The Disney+ Programs May Supplant The Existing Marvel Television Universe(Photo by Albert L. Ortega/WireImage)As we mentioned earlier, the evident disconnect between shows like Runaways and the feature films will disappear in this new era of Marvel content. Feige (pictured above with Marvel star Scarlett Johansson) himself said as much when he discussed the studio’s Disney+ plan at August s D23 Expo while announcing four new series set to join their calendar: Ms. Marvel, Moon Knight, Hawkeye, and She-Hulk.These additional Disney+ announcements read like a list of dream projects lifted directly from Loeb’s desk. Moon Knight was often rumored to be part of a second wave of Netflix content from Marvel Television, while She-Hulk and the Kate Bishop version of Hawkeye both neatly fit the description of a female-led series the division was reportedly developing for ABC as a companion to S.H.I.E.L.D. Also, all of these characters feel a part of the unacknowledged Marvel Television universe. Well, that is to say Moon Knight would make a splash as the first truly costumed character in The Defender’s Manhattan while Ms. Marvel’s Kamala Khan and She-Hulk’s Jennifer Walters would fit right into the brighter, poppier Marvel world of S.H.I.E.L.D.RELATED: Your Full List of All Upcoming Marvel Movies — With Key Details! But considering these are all Marvel Studios production, we can’t help but think they will chart their own course and ignore events established on S.H.I.E.L.D. or Daredevil. And with Loeb gone, no one will feel particularly inclined to advocate for the established Marvel Television programs or their histories. Additionally, Marvel Studios will not be able to develop television projects based on any of the characters from the Netflix shows for another 18 months (at the earliest), suggesting they may start from scratch when Luke Cage and the Punisher become available to them. The Marvel TV universe, as we’ve known it since S.H.I.E.L.D.’s debut in 2013, may experience a very permanent blip of its own.Although, that Edwin Jarvis cameo in Endgame is one positive sign that all may not be lost. But even if, say, Olivia Holt and Aubrey Joseph play Cloak Dagger’s Tandy and Tyrone again in a Marvel Studios show, don’t expect them to reference the events of their recently canceled series.Helstrom and The Offenders Animated Programs May Not Go Forward(Photo by ABC)Even before word of Loeb’s departure broke, there was the sense Marvel Television was already winding down. During the summer, he happily proclaimed a new “Adventure Into Fear” initiative on Hulu. The plan featured new live-action series, anchored by a planned Ghost Rider program, which would delve into Marvel Comic’s horror titles in a mode incompatible with Disney+ family friendly edict. Gabriel Luna, who played the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider on S.H.I.E.L.D., was set to reprise his role. Plans were also afoot for Helstrom, a series based on Marvel’s Damion Helstom – a.k.a. the Son of Satan.Additionally, Hulu and Marvel Television were in process of developing four animated series based on concepts as wild as Hit-Monkey (a literal monkey turned hit-man), and M.O.D.O.K. — the Mobile Organism Designed Only for Killing. Said to appeal to adult animation fans, the programs would culminate in a one-hour special cheekily called The Offenders. Then Hulu passed on Ghost Rider just as rumors surfaced indicating Marvel Studios had its own interest in the character.RELATED: All 23 Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies RankedAt the present, it appears the “Adventure Into Fear” initiative is dead, although Helstrom is going forward with a cast including Tom Austen, Sydney Lemmon, and Elizabeth Marvel. According to a Marvel press release, the series will debut on Hulu sometime in 2020. But without Loeb, it seems unlikely the Marvel Studios version of Marvel Television will continue the Adventure Into Fear when it has its own plans for horror with Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. Also, it is unclear if The Offenders programs will still go forward. Thanks to the long lead times needed for animation, it is possible at least one or two of the series will make to production and stream on Hulu. But it is also possible the whole thing will be scrapped. This Hulu uncertainty also extends to Runaways. Though a constant success for the streamer, it is unknown if the program will return after its third season launches on December 13.The Erasure of Marvel’s Inhumans(Photo by ABC/Marvel)But if there’s one (admittedly silly) good thing to come from Loeb’s departure, it is the potential elimination of Marvel’s Inhumans from the MCU. Once meant to be a feature film in Marvel Studio’s Phase 3, the project was allegedly part of Perlmutter’s hopes to downplay the importance of the X-Men by recasting the Inhuman concept as the MCU answer to mutants. But once Marvel Studios became a Disney Studios division, Inhumans kept getting pushed farther into the distance.Eventually, Marvel Television took it on and the results were — well, 11% on the Tomatometer really says it all. Despite good actors like Anson Mount, exquisite location shooting in Hawaii, and a willingness to put a giant teleporting bulldog on screen, the show was shockingly generic. Its plot ended with the Inhuman royal family and their subjects moving to Hawaii and preparing for an ancient, unseen enemy. Thanos may have been the implied threat, but it seems Feige was the foe they were really bracing for.RELATED: Marvel TV Ranked by TomatometerRumors indicate Marvel Studios is looking to recast the Inhuman royal family for the Ms. Marvel series. The character is an Inhuman and interacts with the Inhuman royal family on a number of occasions. She also ends up taking care of that teleporting bulldog for a time. If the rumors are true, it likely means this one series is definitely out of MCU continuity. And for all the good Loeb did at Marvel Television — we did get two seasons of Agent Carter, three seasons of Legion, seven of S.H.I.E.L.D., and shows dedicated to Luke Cage and Jessica Jones, after all — we won’t mind if this one element of his tenure slips quietly away into dust.(Photo by Netflix)Loeb s formal announcement is expected before Thanksgiving with his departure occurring by the end of the year, giving him a full decade at Marvel, Deadline reported. In addition to his executive producer role on the Marvel titles mentioned previously, the titles he oversaw included The Punisher, The Defenders, Iron Fist, and The Gifted. Loeb previously had been a producer and writer on NBC s Heroes and The CW s Smallville, was a supervising producer on ABC s Lost, and co-wrote 1985 film Teen Wolf, starring Michael J. Fox.Like this? Over 50 years after Disney s Mary Poppins premiered in 1964, the magical nanny of Cherry Tree Lane is set to grace the big screen again, promising more musical numbers and whimsical adventure for the whole family. In Mary Poppins Returns, Emily Blunt takes on the iconic role made famous by Julie Andrews as Mary Poppins swoops in on a grown-up Michael Banks (Ben Whishaw) and his own three children to restore order to the family and help them rekindle the joy in their lives.Director Rob Marshall and stars Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda, Emily Mortimer, and Ben Whishaw all sat down with RT s Jacqueline Coley to talk about the film s big song-and-dance numbers, their surprisingly professional child co-stars, and the unusual Christmas movies they watched growing up. Plus, Blunt discusses her big year in bathtubs and Miranda explains why The Little Mermaid is so important to him.Mary Poppins Returns opens everywhere on December 19.
If there s any time of the year best-suited for wish fulfillment, it s the holiday season, and if there s any actress best-suited to play a working woman who overcomes unlikely odds on the way to success, it might be Jennifer Lopez. In Second Act, Lopez plays struggling retail manager Maya, who is mistakenly hired as a high-level marketing consultant and uses the opportunity to turn her life around. Unfortunately, while critics say Lopez is clearly committed to her role and the film aims for the heart with its feelgood message, it s also suffers from unusual tonal shifts, an unfocused narrative, and shopworn platitudes. That said, it works as a bit of counterprogramming against the big-budget fare opening this week and might serve as a pleasant enough diversion for anyone who knows what they re getting into.
Joel Meares for Rotten Tomatoes: You shared a video on Instagram of you listening to Love Myself, your song from The High Note – and you seemed completely overjoyed and moved by hearing the song and sharing it with people. Why does it mean so much to you right now to be releasing a song?Tracee Ellis Ross: I think there s lots of pieces to it. Number one, this is a childhood dream that, somewhere along the way, turned into my biggest fear. And I faced that fear and walked through it. And although I had already done the recording and obviously had heard the song before, this was the moment that I was sharing it with people that don t know me.I think it s really important in our lives to celebrate big and small moments. And this felt like a big one for me. Somehow that Instagram Live felt incredibly intimate and also like a party. And I could have never expected that I would feel like that. I ve never really done an Instagram – I mean, I ve gone live for 10 seconds trying to figure out what Live means, but I ve never advertised and planned, you know, a live party and a sharing of something. And it felt so connected and wonderful. There were 10,000 people in there, but it was really special.I also think, in this very real time we re in, where there is so much heaviness, so much loss, so much grief, the loss of livelihoods, the loss of lives, all of this is going on a heaviness that my heart feels like so many other people, it felt really special to have a moment of lightness, a moment of joy, a moment of freedom, and a moment of sharing and connection. Although, in a different way than we are used to, it seemed to really be a moment of light in the middle of that. Then there s the fact that the message of the song is exactly a tonic for the times right now. And I feel like, put down your phone; it doesn t matter what other people think. It s like, what do you think of yourself? Love yourself. And that s the message of the movie. And it felt really special to share that. You know, the message being that no matter the time, no matter the age, the phase, the stage you are at your life, no matter your circumstances, or even people telling you to stay in your lane, it s never too late to go after what you want. It s never too late to be who you are, and it s always worth pursuing that.Rotten Tomatoes: I m sure there is some disappointment that this isn t hitting movie theaters as expected, but it s also a movie that is going to bring joy into people s homes. Is this a movie that s in some ways right for the moment we re in?Ross: You know, I can t really determine that. I think that s for everybody else to decide, but I do hope that this film brings them joy. It s a feel-good movie. It s not a heavy movie. It s a really feel-good empowering movie. And we know music reaches into our hearts. You know, we all thought it was going to be a movie theater theatrical release, but I think this movie is perfectly suited for being in your home. I think it can be shared with your loved ones or watched by yourself. I think people can make an event of it and get themselves a cocktail or put some lemonade in a stemmed glass. I feel like it s one of those movies that makes you go through all the emotions. There s laughter. There s tears. There s joy. And there s music. I mean, what more can you ask for? And there s fashion, by the way, which also is very helpful.Rotten Tomatoes: There was some very good fashion. There is a memorable scene where Grace is trying to clean out her closet, but can t part with anything. Are you like that in real life? Do you struggle to get rid of some of your favorite outfits, or are you a total Marie Kondo?Ross: I am. I am. I m not like Grace in a lot of ways – most ways. I don t share a lot with her. It was really fun to take on the persona of somebody who was larger-than-life like that. And I mean, one of my favorite moments of the movie, by the way, is when Maggie tells Grace that she s dating someone or something and she s like, Does he know about me? That killed me. I was like, wow, way to turn a moment in the wrong direction! So I am not at all like Grace, but I am in that way. It s hard for me to let go of my clothing. I love holding onto stuff. It s hard for me to say goodbye to it.Rotten Tomatoes: Finally, you ve grown up with musicians: Was there anyone who you turned to for advice on playing this role when you got it?Ross: I didn t. You know, the role was so beautifully written from its first incarnation. When I first read that first draft of the script, it didn t require a lot of research to look elsewhere. Also, it s a world I come from, to a certain extent. There was a lot for me to draw on that just lives within my own experience. But the support that I got mostly came in the studio and in the recording process, which was one of the main places that I started to find who Grace was. And how to find her voice, which was combined with my voice. Rodney Jerkins, who is the producer – a very experienced and well-known producer – was my touchstone. He made me feel so safe and so supported, I was able to walk through my fear and get really comfortable. Then of course I leaned towards friends in moments that I was having panic attacks. I was afraid about what I was doing. I called my sister and my brother who are both singers. And I have a friend that s a manager in the industry, and I called him at one point. But mostly our director, Nisha [Ganatra], was wonderful, and the script was there, so I didn t really have to call on anyone. It was all built into the process. The High Note is available to rent or buy on demand May 29, 2020.
亚博手机版官方下载 Today s Ketchup brings you another 10 headlines from the world of film development news, covering titles such as Candyman, Pinocchio, Spider-Women, and Venom 2.This WEEK S TOP STORYGUILLERMO DEL TORO REVEALS OVER 15 MOVIES READY TO GO(Photo by Elizabeth Goodenough/Everett Collection)Long before Guillermo del Toro won the Best Picture Oscar this year for The Shape of Water, it was well known that he had a long list of shelved movies in his past. That little golden man on his mantle has changed a lot for GDT, including his new deal at Fox Searchlight that basically set him up with his own mini-studio for horror/genre films. This week, Guillermo del Toro took to Twitter to list over 15 unproduced screenplays that he has completely finished, which are basically ready to go projects for any studio that wants to work with him on them. The most common theme to the list is remakes, including The Count of Monte Cristo, Fantastic Voyage, The Haunted Mansion (which is Disney s), Nightmare Alley, The Witches, and Beauty and the Beast (with Emma Watson, who eventually starred in Disney s remake instead). There s also the spooky DC Comics super team Justice League Dark (featuring Constantine and Swamp Thing), adaptations of the novels Drood and List of 7, and H.P. Lovecraft s At the Mountains of Madness (which infamously almost got made with Tom Cruise, at one point). Other intriguing titles include The Buried Giant, The Coffin, Mephisto s Bridge, and Superstitious. One of them is just called Secret Project (Untitled), which might be especially interesting since, at one point, The Shape of Water was also basically known as Secret Project (Untitled). Probably the least likely of these projects to ever actually happen are Pacific Rim 2 (since it was replaced by Pacific Rim: Uprising) and a pilot episode for a once-planned Hulk TV show reboot. So, will any studios now step up to any of these?Fresh Developments1. SPIDER-VERSE SEQUEL AND SPINOFF ALREADY PLANNED(Photo by Sony Pictures)Sony s animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is still two weeks away from release, but it also already has a 100% Tomatometer from 49 reviews to date. That has to be part of the reason that Sony has announced early development has started on both a direct sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and a spinoff focusing on Spider-Women. That spinoff will focus on three generations of female superheroes with spider powers, with Spider-Gwen from the first movie likely to be one of the three. Other possibilities might include Jessica Drew (the original Spider-Woman), Madame Web, Arachne, Araña, and Spider-Girl. (To make things confusing, there have been three Spider-Women, two Madame Webs, and two Spider-Girls.) These two animated films join a growing slate of Marvel movies at Sony that also includes Venom 2, Morbius (AKA The Living Vampire), Black Cat, Silver Sable, Kraven the Hunter, Jackpot, Nightwatch, and Silk.2. TOM HANKS MAY PLAY GEPPETTO IN DISNEY S PINOCCHIO REMAKE (Photo by Jaap Buitendijk/Walt Disney Studios)2019 is going to be a big year for Disney s remakes of their animated features, with Dumbo (3/29/19), Aladdin (5/24/19), and The Lion King (7/19/19) all scheduled for release. Then, in 2020, we re also going to get Mulan (3/27/20), Maleficent II (5/29/20), and possibly another (Disney has a few untitled movies on their 2020 schedule right now). The studio shows no signs of slowing down, and this week, we received our first casting news for their Pinocchio remake. Toy Story and Saving Mr. Banks star Tom Hanks is now in talks with Disney to play the toymaker Geppetto for director Paul King, whose Paddington 2 is still Certified Fresh at an impressive 100% on the Tomatometer. In related news, Tim Allen (AKA Buzz Lightyear) recently revealed another new detail about next year s Toy Story 4 (6/21/19) while on The Tonight Show, disclosing that Keanu Reeves will be joining the Toy Story franchise as a character that sounds too much like Buzz Lightyear. The other major sequel that Keanu Reeves has coming out next year is John Wick: Chapter 3 (5/3/2019).3. RITA MORENO RETURNING IN SPIELBERG S REMAKE OF WEST SIDE STORYWhen filmmakers remake or sequelize classic films, they frequently cast one of the original stars (Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins Returns is a perfect example of that). For his remake of the 10-time Academy Award-winning 1961 musical West Side Story, Steven Spielberg is following suit. EGOT winner Rita Moreno played Anita in the original West Side Story, and she is now set to co-star in Spielberg s remake of the film. Moreno s character will be named Valentina, a reimagined version of the corner store owner named Doc (played in the original film by Ned Glass). Moreno is the second new cast member following the casting of Ansel Elgort (Baby Driver) last month as Tony. It is not yet known if Twin Peaks co-stars (and the original s two male leads) Richard Beymer and Russ Tamblyn will also be cast in the West Side Story remake (Natalie Wood, who played Maria in the original, died in 1981).4. JORDAN PEELE PRODUCING CANDYMAN REMAKE FOR 2020 (Photo by TriStar Pictures)In September, we first heard that Get Out director Jordan Peele was producing a remake of the 1992 horror film Candyman. Just two months later, the Candyman remake already has a director, a studio, and a release date. MGM has kind of made remakes their thing, with recent films like Ben-Hur, The Magnificent Seven, Death Wish, Tomb Raider, Overboard, and A Star is Born. The Candyman remake will be directed by Nia DaCosta, who made her debut with the indie modern Western Little Woods (currently Fresh at 100%). MGM and Universal Pictures have scheduled Candyman for release on June 12, 2020, which puts it a week after Wonder Woman 1984 and the week before a secret Pixar/Disney film.5. DC COMICS MOVES FORWARD WITH BLUE BEETLE SOLO MOVIE(Photo by DC Comics)Since 1939, there have been three iterations of the DC Comics superhero called Blue Beetle, starting with this one, after which, for the longest run, there was Justice League member Ted Kord (best known, probably, for teaming up with Booster Gold). The first Blue Beetle was sort of like Shazam, and the second was similar in some ways to Batman, but starting in 2006, the third Blue Beetle had a symbiote that makes him sort of like Venom. That Blue Beetle is a young hero named Jaime Reyes, and this week, Warner Bros revealed their plans to make Blue Beetle the first stand-alone title to feature a Latino lead. (It should be noted that the star of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is Miles Morales, whose mom is Puerto Rican.) Blue Beetle will be written by Mexican-born screenwriter Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, who also wrote the upcoming remake of Scarface.6. VIOLA DAVIS BRINGING THE FIGHTING SHIRLEY CHISHOLM TO AMAZON (AND THEATERS) Although Netflix is probably the most prolific streaming service, it was actually Amazon Studios that made history in 2017 when Manchester by the Sea made it the first streaming service to be nominated for a Best Picture Academy Award. Earlier this week, the news broke that Viola Davis JuVee Productions had set up a new deal at Amazon Studios, and just three days later, we learned what their first project will be. Confirming Amazon s continued interest in producing the sorts of films that can compete for major awards, Davis has set up the political biopic The Fighting Shirley Chisholm. In 1972, U.S. Representative Shirley Chisholm made history twice as both the first African American (of either major party) and the first female Democrat to become an official candidate for President of the United States. The Fighting Shirley Chisholm will be directed by Maggie Betts (Novitiate), working from a screenplay by Adam Countee (of TV s Community, Silicon Valley, and The Mindy Project).7. DONALD GLOVER, RIHANNA, AND LETITIA WRIGHT HEADED FOR GUAVA ISLAND(Photo by Guy D'Alema/FX)This week, the first teaser trailer for next summer s The Lion King remake broke records for Disney, but the movie s star, Donald Glover, is also working on another movie for 2019 as well. Glover (a.k.a. Childish Gambino), Rihanna, and Letitia Wright (Shuri from Black Panther) reportedly went to Cuba this August to film a secret movie that was revealed this week to be called Guava Island. The first teaser trailer doesn t really reveal anything else about the project, except that it s a Childish Gambino movie directed by frequent Glover collaborator Hiro Murai, who also directed episodes of Atlanta and several Childish Gambino music videos, including This is America.8. KINGSMAN PREQUEL ATTRACTS IMPRESSIVE CAST(Photo by Giles Keyte/20th Century Fox Film Corp.)When Kingsman: The Secret Service was released in 2015, it was Certified Fresh at 75% on the Tomatometer. Last year s sequel, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, however, did considerably poorer, scoring just 52%. With that in mind, we re tempted to call this week s news Rotten, except that it s, well, kind of cool. First, it s sounding like there will actually be two Kingsman movies filming in 2019: a prequel and a proper Kingsman 3. The prequel is the one that sparked the biggest headlines, as director Matthew Vaughn has reportedly cast (or is negotiating to cast) Daniel Brühl (Captain America: Civil War), Charles Dance (Tywin Lannister from Game of Thrones), Rhys Ifans (The Amazing Spider-Man), and Ralph Fiennes (Voldemort from the Harry Potter franchise). The Kingsman prequel will reportedly be a period drama about the actual tailor shop that serves as a front for the secret British spy agency.
ck Stewart in the upcoming untitled series that will explore the next chapter of Star Trek: The Next Generation’s Jean-Luc Picard.Live From New York (Photo by Universal Pictures)NBC announced that Adam Sandler, Emma Thompson, and Paul Rudd are the final three Saturday Night Live hosts for the sketch comedy series’ current 44th season. The mega-producer announced last week that he’s bringing current show The Prom to the streaming service for a “movie event,” and this week he revealed that he’s also reuniting the cast of 2018’s The Boys in the Band over the summer for a film. View this post on Instagram Last summer, THE BOYS IN THE BAND were on Broadway, breaking house records at The Booth. THIS summer, The Boys In the Band will be filming a Netflix movie event. The incomparable Joe Mantello, who directed the Broadway revival, will direct the film adaptation. The Broadway cast of BOYS was so important to me, and as equally groundbreaking as Mart Crowley s seminal work. Everyone in the cast was out and proud and feeling so blessed to mark the 50th anniversary of Mart s landmark play. The entire Broadway cast will reprise their roles in the film. I can t wait to be on set with Joe and Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto, Andrew Rannells, Matt Bomer, Charlie Carver, Robin de Jesus, Tuc Watkins, Michael Benjamin Washington and Brian Hutchison. I will be producing the film with David Stone and Ned Martel. Look for THE BOYS on Netflix in 2020.A post shared by Ryan Murphy (@mrrpmurphy) on Apr 17, 2019 at 10:46am PDT
