最新征服私服采用百度引擎7(Baidu 1)It s not an easy thing to be the lowest-scoring Game of Thrones episode of the series history, but Episode 5: "The Bells" 49% has done it.Five seasons had passed before an episode of the series got a Rotten score, and then another two passed before it got another with season 8 s The Last of the Starks, which, critics complained, was  anticlimactic and a huge letdown. And now another. The series eighth and final season is struggling relative to its predecessors. With its latest episode at 49% on 68 reviews (updated) following the previous week s 57% score, season 8 dropped to 73% on Monday — every other season is Certified Fresh at 91% or higher on the Tomatometer. The final episode will have to score an 89% or higher for the season overall to qualify for Certified Fresh status. It is now mathematically impossible for the season to be anything but the lowest-scoring season of the series. There were no dancing Starbucks cups derailing Sunday s episode, but plenty more to complain about, according to reviews. But, first, some good news or not(Photo by Mark Davis/Getty Images)UPDATED: Absurd, author George R.R. Martin wrote in a vehement denial of a statement actor Ian McElhinney made to a Saint Peteresburg, Russia, fan convention that books six and seven were written but shelved until after the series concluded. (See the video here, starting around the 32-minute mark.)McElhinney who played Ser Barristan Selmy in the series dropped that bomb at Epic Con in April, revealing/purporting that Martin has already finished writing the final two books of the Song of Ice and Fire novel series that the hit TV show is based on. He struck an agreement with David [Benioff] and Dan [Weiss], the showrunners of the series, that he would not publish his final two books until the series has completed, McElhinney said at the con. So [if] all goes well, another month or two, we might get books six and seven. Martin responded to the video: No, THE WINDS OF WINTER and A DREAM OF SPRING are not finished. DREAM is not even begun; I am not going to start writing volume seven until I finish volume six … HBO did not ask me to delay them. Nor did David Dan. There is no “deal” to hold back on the books. I assure you, HBO and David Dan would both have been thrilled and delighted if THE WINDS OF WINTER had been delivered and published four or five years ago… and NO ONE would have been more delighted than me. Still, if you don t like the way the show ends, there s always the option to read the author s take on it — whenever the books arrive. (And those people who have been dragging on Martin online about finishing the books still seriously need to apologize — that s still bad form.)Armed with that information and before you set your expectations about the finale, read on to find out what critics had to say about  The Bells. No, After Eight Seasons, Critics Aren t Buying This For viewers who have stuck around for eight seasons of the HBO fantasy series, all that s left after the penultimate episode is ash and a bad taste. — Kelly Lawler, USA Today For a battle that s been years in the making, that was more than a little disappointing. — Paul Dailly, TV Fanatic The penultimate episode of Game of Thrones, The Bells, has too much to do and too little time for people to stop and explain how they re feeling. As a result, everything is big. — Dave Gonzales, Thrillist Sorry. But no. I just didn t buy that. Any of it. — Michael Deacon, Daily Telegraph (UK)Read more: Game of Thrones’ Penultimate Episode: Hell Hath No Fury Like a Dragon Queen Scorned Whither the Daenerys We Know and Love? Dany got a raw deal. — Glen Weldon, NPR It s understandable that she would act rashly as a response. But the show doesn t actually set that up. Instead, it presents us with mounting evidence that she s suddenly inherited her father and brother s mental illness, with no prior symptoms. — Anne Cohen, Refinery29 I don t want to spend too much time second-guessing the show runners here, but I saw a bunch of people carping on Twitter as soon as the episode ended that this turn of Daenerys s is unearned, and I have to say it felt that way to me too. — Mike Hogan, Vanity Fair The Thrones series finale will have to do a LOT of repair work to make me understand what the hell happened to Dany, the woman who once locked up her dragons for months because one of them accidentally killed ONE child. — Huw Fullerton, Radio TimesWe Need to Talk About the WritingThe show s perverse desire to dumb down its characters just to fill out inorganic plot beats is maybe the biggest overall problem with this final season. — Clint Worthington, The Spool Drawing out aspects of the character which have been there in more than just her gene pool but hidden in the gestalt complicates a picture that is much more fun to leave a little less novelistic.  — Daniel D Addario, Variety In doing so, the thing that GoT is actually pushing is a debate about Dany s morality, bringing that question into the foreground of the show after letting it sit quietly in the background for so long.  — James Hibberd, Entertainment Weekly It s like Jamie Lannister stabbed the Mad King in the back, and the writers of the show stabbed Jamie Lannister in the back!  — Jeremy Jahns, JeremyJahns.com I still greatly enjoyed The Bells, the penultimate episode of this last-minute-bungled series, because anytime there s a lot of killing, it translates to minimal dialogue, a blessing at this point.  — Julianne Escobedo Shepherd, The Muse/Jezebel Game Of Thrones has always been a show to cast a realistic eye (magic and dragons not withstanding) on how people treat each other when power is in play, and there were multiple examples here. Just not all of them worth our while.  — James White, Empire Magazine Sure, there was something wonderful and terrible to behold as she and her Drogon rained terror down on King s Landing, but all those pyrotechnics and the resulting ash couldn t obscure how mechanical this drama has become.  — Ellen Gray, Philadelphia InquirerRead more: Game of Thrones’ Final Season Is Officially Its Worst, According to the TomatometerBut What About Those Effects? There was so much that could have worked here, so many emotional pay-offs and beautifully shot scenes and it was all let down by how little work was put into earning those moments.  — Sarah Hughes, Guardian The cinematic pyrotechnics to accompany this grim symphony were occasionally repetitious but overall extraordinary.  — Spencer Kornhaber, The Atlantic The CGI was spectacular.  — Neela Debnath, Daily Express (UK)The Acting? In general, this episode was beautifully executed and really well-acted, with a lot of clean action and intelligent cross-cutting between set pieces. But it felt so hollow to me, the narratives stakes entirely obliterated, once Daenerys made her move. — David Sims, The Atlantic The acting was spectacular. The effects were stunning. But that prowess was in service of a story that was extremely obvious in some ways (Dany becoming the Mad Queen, something fans have predicted for ages) and absolutely illogical in others. — Lenika Cruz, The AtlanticRead more: All Game of Thrones Episodes, Ranked by TomatometerFinal Verdict? I m going to err on the episode working in a vacuum and rate it as positive if middling, but just as this week has come to make last week s loathsome in hindsight, next week s final hour will provide the final details to really evaluate this ending.  — David Crow, Den of Geek I wish I could go back to living in a world where Game of Thrones was still a great show, something I recommended to my friends, colleagues and my cab driver. But now, I feel like sinking into the ground, embarrassed for ever promoting or defending it.  — Soumya Srivastava, Hindustan Times Just because the outcome wasn t surprising, that doesn t mean the result wasn t spectacular.  — Jeremy Egner, New York Times Game of Thrones should end the same way it did its best work surprising us. Or perhaps surprising us about the way it s surprising us.  — Hillary Kelly, New York Magazine/Vulture Whatever the thinking, the result is clear: Game of Thrones marches towards its final episode a lame duck.  — Nick Hilton, Independent (UK) The only character I care about survives, so I m good. Beyond that, this episode is full on chaos.  — Leona Laurie, Geek Girl Authority It is sufficed to say that the beautifully shot swarming of King s Landing and pitiful death of Cersei may stand as the pivotal and most recalled episode of Game of Thrones ever no matter how things shake down next week.  — Dominic Patten, Deadline Hollywood Daily Maybe that s the core truth revealed by The Bells. There may just be too many arcs in this show for these final episodes to feel truly earned as an ending, too many threads that were just destined to never connect.  — Myles McNutt, AV Club I loved it and hated it and I think it could have been the perfect culmination of everything this show ever set out to do, if only they d earned it.  — Erik Kain, Forbes By the end of this 90 minutes, as the ash settled, it is difficult not to feel one was looking at the charred remains of an era-defining television show s integrity.  — Hugh Montgomery, BBC.com The Bells stands as one of the most artful, poetic, and upsetting installments in Game of Thrones history, as the true cost of war hits home in a devastating and visceral way.  — Laura Prudom, IGN MoviesDid you agree with the critics? Dorothy has been through so much trying to retrieve Jericho, Josephine observes: “No person is meant to bear so much weight.”Servant season 2, episode 10 Josephine streams on Friday, March 19 on Apple TV+.最新征服私服Richard Jewell (2019) 77% Back in 1996, smack dab in the middle of the Summer Olympics in Atlanta, Georgia, a pipe bomb exploded in Centennial Olympic Park, killing one person and injuring dozens more. The man who originally discovered the bomb, a security guard named Richard Jewell, alerted the authorities and helped evacuate spectators to safety, and he became a hero in the process. Well, for a few days, anyway, until reports began to surface that he was a person of interest in the FBI s investigation, at which point Jewell underwent a grueling trial by media that changed his life forever. Clint Eastwood s latest directorial effort, Richard Jewell, is a dramatization of these events, with Paul Walter Hauser playing the title character at the center of the whirlwind, Sam Rockwell as his old friend and eventual attorney, and Kathy Bates as Jewell s mother Bobi they re the good guys. On the other end, we have Jon Hamm as an unscrupulous G-man and Olivia Wilde as the Atlanta Journal-Constitution writer who broke the story of the FBI s interest in Jewell. It s an impressive cast, and critics say each performer offers striking work under Eastwood s steady direction, even if the story itself has been somewhat oversimplified for dramatic effect. Eastwood clearly has a message on his mind in Richard Jewell, and he largely succeeds in communicating it clearly and effectively. He s in comfortable territory here, and it works to his advantage; fans of his work should find plenty to enjoy.

reenlit the big-screen adaptation of Downton Abbey may be getting a nice bonus for the holiday. Brad Pitt and John Rambo were no match for the Crawley family this weekend, as Downton defied expectations and topped the box office with a cool million. The hit movie also grossed more this weekend than 109 of the Focus’s 133 releases grossed total since the company debuted with Billy Elliot back in 2000.King of the Crop: Downton Abbey Lords It Over the Competition, Sets Sights on 0 MillionJoel MearesThe numbers for Downton Abbey are pretty staggering. Tracking services had it lowballed to - million at first (only to later balloon up to around double that) but it seems its fanbase was loyal enough to show up and pay for something they got free from 2010-15. Focus really pulled something special off here. The studio has certainly put out a number of critically-acclaimed films over the years, including Atonement, Lost in Translation, and Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind – and Downton is no exception, Certified Fresh at 85% on the Tomatometer – but their highest opening weekend until now was Insidious: Chapter 3, which grossed .6 million in 2015.Downton Abbey has already eclipsed that and now has its eye on Focus’s all-time grosser. Worldwide, that title belongs to the Gerard Butler sequel, London Has Fallen, which made over 5 million, but domestically it is the Oscar-winning Brokeback Mountain, grossing million. The only big-screen adaptations to start with over million and not reach that number are the comedies Bruno (.05 million) and The Dukes of Hazzard (.27 million) and if that is possible, could 0 million possibly be on the table too? For perspective, Hustlers opened to a similar .1 million last week and dipped 49% to million for a total of million after 10 days. That puts it roughly a million dollars ahead of the 2016 Magnificent Seven remake, which topped out at .4 million. Will Downton Abbey be frontloaded or do adults finally have a nice PG-rated film they can recommend to their friends? The Top 10 and Beyond: Ad Astra Made A Smart Move, Rambo Takes One Last (?) Go at Box Office Glory(Photo by 20th Century Fox)Industry watchers had one thing right about this week’s box office race: it was a crowded top five. Coming up with a narrow victory for second place was James Gray’s Ad Astra. Originally slated for a May release with nary a first trailer out there yet in April, Fox smartly moved it to a September slot. That likely made them a few more bucks as nearly everything was being swallowed up that month by Avengers: Endgame, though they were probably hoping for an opening in the million region. A .2 million start is in the middle of Pitt’s headliners and while critics are supporting the film (it s Certified Fresh at 83%), audiences may find its introspective approach to sci-fi challenging. We’ll set the first estimate for the film between million and million, which means the international audience will have to chip in to cover the reported  million budget. The film has grossed an additional million outside North America. From one film challenging the notion of the alpha male to one that s the embodiment of it, Rambo: Last Blood in all its 78-minute glory (sans credits) hit theaters as well. (The film runs longer in international markets thanks to an opening prologue cut from American audiences.) If we consider inflation to chart the course of the series: First Blood back in 1982 would have opened to .6 million and go on to gross 5.5 million; things exploded in 1985 when Rambo: First Blood Part II opened with the equivalent of a .1 million first weekend and earned a 8 million final haul; Rambo III in 1988 would have started with .2 million in today’s dollars and finish with 6.4 million. Thirty years later, Rambo would equate to a .6 million start and a .9 million finish. Now in 2019, Last Blood has started with million and is likely to drop off with the same expediency as the fourth entry, which may get the film to between million and million.(Photo by Brooke Palmer/© 2019 WARNER BROS. ENTERTAINMENT INC.)In a strange coincidence – they re both movies about malevolent creatures terrorizing children – It: Chapter Two is right behind last year’s big-screen animated version of The Grinch after 17 days of release. With 9.17 million after a .25 million third weekend, the movie is more on par with Steven Spielberg’s War of the Worlds and Solo: A Star Wars Story than any of the animated and family films with a similar tally. We are dropping its final estimate slightly from last week down to 0-5 million; the film has grossed over 2 million worldwide to date. In milestones this weekend, Hobbs Shaw crossed the 0 million mark and Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood passed 0 million on the international market, bringing its worldwide total to 4 million. Finally, Amazon keeps trying but has not been able to get Brittany Runs a Marathon into the top 10, where it can get some further headlines. The film finished 12th this weekend in 1,033 theaters, grossing .5 million for a total of million, the studio’s third-highest domestic grosser to date. On the plus side, that is more than Warner Bros.’ The Goldfinch, which fell 71% this weekend and has made just .5 million to date. This Time Last Year: Audiences Chose PG Chills Over Political Thrills(Photo by © Universal Pictures)As The Nun was passing the 0 million mark, Eli Roth’s PG-rated children’s film, The House with a Clock In Its Walls, opened at number 1 with .6 million, while Michael Moore’s documentary about Donald Trump, Fahrenheit 11/9, was roundly ignored and opened in eighth place with just million. That is still better than two of the lowest per-theater-averages of the year that did not even make the top 10: Amazon’s Life Itself, which made just .12 million in 2,609 theaters for a 4 PTA and Neon’s Assassination Nation, which made .05 million in 1,403 theaters for a 8 PTA. The top 10 films grossed a total of .31 million and averaged 63.9% on the Tomatometer; this weekend’s top 10 grossed an estimated 3.91 million, which is good enough for the third-best September weekend ever for the top 10 films. The Tomatometer had a nearly identical average with 63.8%.
Joel MearesRotten Tomatoes Get To Know Your Nominees” series will provide an in-depth look at one nominee from each of the major awards categories – the four acting categories, and directing – diving into their highest-rated work from both fans and critics, essential titles from their filmography, and featuring thoughts on their nominated film drawn from an extended interview. The Nominee: Regina KingFor some people, she’ll always be Brenda from 227. Regina King got her first acting credit in the series that starred Marla Gibbs, who had played maid Florence in The Jeffersons, and which ran from 1985-1990. Her performance as Gibbs’ character’s daughter, Brenda Jenkins, is beloved, especially in the African American community. While other actors might be a touch irritated to be best remembered for their earliest work, King is unbothered. These days, that is. “It took a couple years for me to get to the point of not becoming offended by it,  King told Rotten Tomatoes when we sat down with her in November. but now I’m like, Why would I be offended by that?”She may not have to bother asking that question soon, with a new role – that of caring mom Sharon in Barry Jenkins’ adaptation of James Baldwin’s If Beale Street Could Talk – quickly becoming her most career-defining, and putting her at the front of the pack of likely Supporting Actress nominees come Oscar time. Last week, she was nominated for a Golden Globe for the role. As she crisscrosses the country promoting the film, all while filming Damon Lindelof’s upcoming Watchmen series for HBO – multiple projects and constant work are par for the course for the actress – we spoke with her about the roles that have led her here, from fan favorites to the most critically adored to those that, like 227, are essential to the Regina King story.Fan Favorites: A Scene-Stealing Tina Turner Show That Sticks in People s MindsWith Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous. (Photo by © Warner Bros. )Because of King s varied filmography, some fans only experience segments of her work. African American fans might recall her from Friday, Boys in the Hood, or Poetic Justice, while others may be more able to place her from her work in The Big Bang Theory, The Leftovers, or Miss Congeniality 2. King says she lets the work decide what to do next. “I want to be a part of a great story, work with creators that are collaborators, that want me, and everyone else involved, to have some ownership and appreciate what we bring to the table,” she says. Perhaps that’s why John Singleton, Shonda Rhimes, Damon Lindelof, and countless others have repeatedly enlisted her services, in front of and behind the camera. Her last directing credit for the season 3 finale of Insecure, Ghost-like, was one of the highest-rated episodes of the season. Her reputation and talent have kept her booked and busy, but to this day it’s the awkward-turned-awesome lip sync of “Proud Mary” from Miss Congeniality 2: Armed and Fabulous, that lives in the hearts of many a fan. It’s not something she would have predicted at the time – the film took a critical beating, with a Tomatometer of 15% – but it’s the one people always stop her to talk about. “When we were shooting that scene,” she recalls, “my son was on set. Sandra [Bullock] was in the peacock, we had all of these Tina Turner drag queens, and when he saw me – he just stopped. The look on his face [Laughs] It was the most fantastic moment. I had no clue at the time, but that should have been a hint of how [the film] was gonna last forever.” Certified Fresh Roles: The Heart of Jerry Maguire, and Her First Emmy“Show me the money!” may be the most often-quoted line from 1996’s Jerry Maguire. And it may be followed closely by the likes of “You complete me” and You had me at hello.' But ask us, and none of those is the film’s most memorable moment. That distinction belongs to a scene involving King. Playing Cuba Gooding Jr.’s wife Marcy, and delivering the hell out of Cameron Crowe’s dialogue as her husband lies motionless on the field, King is the heart of the movie. While on the phone with struggling sports agent Jerry [Tom Cruise] after a monster hit on Monday Night Football has laid out her husband, she cries, “My whole life is this family, Jerry, and it doesn’t work without him. Just do whatever you can. Just get Rod to me.”With Cuba Gooding Jr., in Jerry Maguire. King had given birth a few months before filming, and what she recalls most about Jerry Maguire is the generosity of everyone on set. “Tom was very much there. I applaud him. He’s an actor’s actor. My son Ian was about a month old, and when [Tom] was doing his side of that scene, I’m at home in a closet doing his off-camera on the phone. [For] my side, he was, I don t even think in the city at the time, but he was there on the phone. There… for me.” She adds: “It was so beautiful that Cameron wrote a story where the black couple was a partnership, they know who they are and love each other with all of their flaws, and their family with all of their flaws.” (We’d be hard pressed to find any family that would forgive Rod’s naysaying brother TP, but at least Marcy did get a few good slaps upside his head – just for the sake of balance.)Almost 30 years to the day since her debut on 227, King was finally honored with her first Emmy (for Best Supporting Actress in a Limited Series or Movie) for the Certified Fresh first season of American Crime. Beating out Angela Bassett, Mo’Nique, Kathy Bates, and Sarah Paulson on her first nomination, King was handed the trophy by Empire’s Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard, who both looked as pleased as she was about the win. King confessed she thought that a candid op-ed she had written in 2010 for the Huffington Post about the lack of minority representation in television would preclude her from future awards. “I pressed send on that draft believing – knowing – that I was never gonna be recognized by the Television Academy,” she says. Five years later, she was on stage accepting her first Emmy. “When the nomination came, it kind of floored me. I was like, Wow, I was wrong. As long as you’re honest and respectful when expressing your feelings, it s not gonna block the blessing. Since then the blessings have kept flowing, with a second Emmy win for American Crime and a surprise win just this summer for Netflix’s Seven Seconds. On stage accepting the award, King was clearly shocked and took a moment to gather her thoughts (the GIF is priceless). She then proceeded with her acceptance speech, remembering to thank Jesus in an echo of a joke told earlier in the night by co-host Michael Che, who said, “Black winners always thank Jesus.”The Regina King Essentials: The Boondocks and the Role That Could Land Her an OscarKing voiced Riley in The Boondocks. (Photo by © Cartoon Network / Courtesy: Everett Collection)When conversation turned to her famous (or perhaps infamous) voice work in controversial animated comedy The Boondocks, King was already way ahead of us. She laughed: “I knew we’d talk about The Boondocks.” Based on Aaron McGruder’s acclaimed comic strip – he also created the show – the Adult Swim series was light years ahead of its time. King voiced the two main characters, both young boys: Riley, the raucous would-be gangsta, and Huey, the bookish and socialist cynic. A memorable episode, in which the boys awaken an alternate-reality version of Martin Luther King Jr. 32 years after a failed assassination attempt, was so divisive it promoted some to call for The Boondocks  cancellation. That same episode was later honored with a Peabody. With its exploration of race and identity politics, it’s almost staggering on a re-watch just how well the show’s dialogue from over a decade ago speaks to current events. “I was always amazed how we were able to stay culturally and socially relevant,” says King. “I don t know what that says about us as a country. But I’d love to see what both [boys] would say about having a black president.” She says that she and McGruder often talk about the possibility of a return. “The Boondocks voices are missed. That s the reason why people ask about it all the time, because it’s about Americans, and the people who love Boondocks aren t just black.”And that’s a huge part of who King is as a performer: her audience. Black people especially feel a particular kinship, a closeness with her; she’s been so many familiar black women over the years that many think of her as family. She’s our sister in Poetic Justice, our tipsy auntie on a viral appearance on Watch What Happens Live, and now our mom in If Beale Street Could Talk. As Sharon, the understanding and empathetic mother of central character Tish (Kiki Lane), doing everything she can to help her pregnant daughter free her jailed fiancé, King’s performance is exceptional and authentic.King as Sharon in If Beale Street Could Talk. (Photo by @ Annapurna Releasing)Sharon is arguably King’s meatiest role yet, and she sits at the center of the movie’s most quietly moving scene. In a wordless moment towards the end of the film, Sharon removes her wig in a defeated gesture that conveys more meaning than pages of dialogue. The camera acts as a mirror: she s looking right into us. At a recent Q A, King downplayed her contribution to the scene, but Jenkins quickly corrected her: “I love the way you answered that, but, my dear, please tell them what it is – it was your idea.” She explained the idea to us simply: “That was from my life experience. It was my grandmother and her wigs, how s she s wearing her hair at home, and how she s wearing her hair to run down to the store – or which wig she wears at church.”When referencing the scene, people often ask her about her awards chances. Is she ready? How is she handling it? When we ask that same question, King replies in a way that could apply to almost all of the credits in her decades-long career.  “I m ready to continue receiving the love when people see this movie – and appreciating what being black in America looks like.”If Beale Street Could Talk opens in limited release December 14 and is released more widely on December 25. The Golden Globe Awards will be broadcast on January 6, 2019, on NBC.

We explore what brought Scorsese s passion project to Netflix.Posted by The Rotten Tomatoes Channel on Thursday, August 1, 2019Martin Scorsese’s latest feature film, The Irishman, has been talked about for years, enduring financial, developmental, and technological bumps along the way, but with the release of the teaser trailer this morning, we finally get our first look at what it ll look like, when it ll come out (sort of), and who s involved, but let s be honest, this trailer had you at hello. So, let’s break down what we know and don’t know about Martin Scorsese’s Netflix-produced film The Irishman. [Updated on 7/31/19.]The PremiseJimmy Hoffa in 1961 Based on I Heard You Paint Houses, the biography of Frank “The Irishman” Sheeran by Charles Brandt, The Irishman tells the story of mafia hitman Sheeran and his relationship to, and possible murder of, Teamsters Union leader Jimmy Hoffa. The disappearance (but let’s just call it murder) of Jimmy Hoffa is one of the most notorious organized crime stories of the 20th century, and more than 40 years later, the case still remains un

Author Richard Connell s 1924 short story The Most Dangerous Game, in which a big-game hunter is hunted by a Russian aristocrat on a remote island, has been adapted for the screen several times since its publication, and more than a few of those films have taken creative liberties with the source material. In 1972 s The Woman Hunt, there were multiple victims, and they were all women; 1987 s Slave Girls from Beyond Infinity set the action in space; and 1993 s Hard Target gave us Jean-Claude Van Damme in a mullet. The latest alternate take on the story comes to us via The Hunt, which casts a gaggle of insufferable liberal elites as the hunters and a dozen deplorables as their prey. Originally slated for release in September of 2019, the film was delayed in the wake of mass shootings in Dayton, OH and El Paso, TX, as well as some high-profile backlash from none other than Donald Trump himself. Presumably, the dust has settled enough that Universal feels comfortable releasing the film, and critics say it s kind of a mixed bag. Taken on its own merits as an action thriller infused with pitch-black comedy, it s not bad, but its efforts to skewer the political divide largely miss the mark, resulting in clumsy attempts at social satire and exaggerated caricatures that are difficult for anyone to relate to. GLOW star Betty Gilpin handles herself admirably in the central heroic role, and there s plenty of blood and guts to go around on all sides, but if there s anything to get riled up about here, it s that the end result wasn t a smarter movie.
